"Kion, what are we going to do!" You sobbed, tucking your head underneath his. He pulled you closer and his shaky breaths ran down your spin as he tried to comfort you.
But no matter how hard he tried to assure you, he couldn't even get words to leave his mouth. He was terrified, terrified of dying, of being killed for actions he did not have control of. So, he opted for gently nuzzling your skin as you wailed.
"W-What are we doing to-to do, Kion?" You hiccupped and Kion's heart tore, seeing you with wet eyes and trembling lips.
"We can't do anything." Kion whispered and you let a few more tears go because you knew it was true. You couldn't do anything. You didn't have the power to. You just leaned into Kion, trying to etch his scent into your brain.
"(Y/N)?" His voice was barely audible, his chest had rumbled, signalling you. You looked up, trying to remember this moment, you wouldn't share any more after a few days. You hummed, though it sounded more like you were clearing your throat.
"I-I don't want you to be there at my execution." His voice cracked and you looked up at him, with widened and fearful eyes. This was really happening.
"Why?" "I don't want your last memory of me to be that. While it's happening, I want you to remember everything we've been through 'til now, I want you to know that I love you, so very much."
"Kion...."
"Please, let me have this last wish..."
You sighed and nodded, if this was going to happen, you wanted Kion to be satisfied with whatever he had in control.
You sniffled lightly as Kion pulled you closer, if it was possible, and gently flicked his tongue over the top of your ear, "Let's just have this night. Let's not think about anything else. Just us." He whispered softly, taking a deep breath and trying to memorize your scent.
A wisp of a smile grew on your face, "Okay."
You were told to leave when it was close to sunrise. You wouldn't have done otherwise, but it was Kion's parents and you felt that he would want a quiet moment with them.
You felt so tired, you couldn't even process anything, you just wished that you could be buried and put out of your misery. Your eyes were tired from crying, your brain was fuzzy and your heart felt like it was being stabbed. Repeatedly.
"(Y/N)!" You turned at the sound of Rafiki. Although you knew it was for the best, you couldn't help but feel a slight resentment for stopping you and Kion from leaving. But you still faced him respectfully.
"Rafiki, what is it you need?" You asked, trying to inconspicuously clear your throat.
"If you wish to achieve the thing you desire the most, follow me, no questions asked."
With that cryptic comment, he had brushed past you. You had turned to watch his back recede, slowly enough for you to follow him.
'Please let this help us.' You prayed and ran after him, 'Please let me save Kion.'

Your heart clenched with hope and fear as you walked towards the cave where Kion was being held. Rafiki was right, this was the thing that you had desired the most.
You walked up uncertainly, staring at your feet when you got to the opening of the cave.
"You already visited Kion once today, (Y/N)." The crocodile guarding the entrance said sternly.
"(Y/N)?" Kion murmured stepping closer towards you.
You began to tense but Rafiki's words had given a bit of strength to your spine, "Since you're taking my love from me, I request you to fulfil this wish of mine."
You knowingly avoided Kion's eyes, a dark blush growing on your face.
The guard sighed, "What do you desire?"
It had taken nearly all your willpower to say this without stammering, your cheeks heating up fiercely. Nevertheless, you said it, "I wish to marry him."
