Infuriating laughing woke you up from your slumber, close to dawn. You stared at golden wisps that peeked from beyond the green fields. However, you weren't able to take in the peaceful view because of the ear-piercing laughing.

"Who's even awake at this time." You murmured, trying to locate the source of the sound.

You blood ran cold when you caught a glimpse of a spotted pelt and you lowered yourself to the ground, your ears arching themselves.

"Think we'll be able to get a good view of Kion's execution from here, boys?" Janja asked turning to his henchman with a cruel gaze.

A growl erupted from your throat as you watched them throw back a 'Yes!' and then laugh about Kion's misery. You pounced, landing before them and they froze, "What do you think you're doing in the Pride Lands, Janja."

"Well, if it isn't (Y/N), my former double agent."

You scowled at him, "Your kind isn't allowed here. Leave."

"Now, (Y/N), no need to get all aggressive. Tell me something, did you end up finding your family?"

You ignored him, standing your ground, "I won't repeat myself, Janja. Leave."

"I guess we should," He said, turning around and his three shadows followed him, "But no one can blame us for wanting to watch the final part of our plan."

They took off into a run before you could even process anything, but it didn't take long for you to run after them after understanding what he implied.

They led you into the Outlands and while you tried to catch your breath, their cackled echoed around the chasms.

"Janja! Show yourself!" You roared as the laughs got more spaced out and echoed louder.

"Why? You just told us to get out, so why follow us here?"

"You know why, you sleazy hyena!"

"Now, (Y/N), no need for name-calling."

You growled, he was trying to talk circles around you.

You followed them into the endless caverns that was the Outlands, finding it difficult to navigate without their echoing voices for you to follow.

In a distance, you heard the padding of their paws and bounded deeper into the chasm. You briefly spotted a dark pelt and increased your speed, pouncing and pinning the leader of their pack with a determined growl.

"I won't ask again, Janja." You barred your teeth, "What did you mean back in the Pride Lands?"

The hyena grinned slyly at you, "I meant, that I wanted to watch the final part of our plan to get rid of the leader of the Lion Guard, of course."

You glared at him, "How?!"

"We were the ones who killed most of the animals and let Kion take the blame for it. Very easy to do, since half the population was missing and Kion had no recollection of anything."

"So, obviously we planned for all this to happen, for once, a plan of ours actually worked."

"It won't work, because I'm going to stop it from happening."

Janja smirked at you, "And how are you going to do that from here?"

Your eyes widened. You finally understood, the final part of the plan wasn't to watch his execution, but to lure you away from the Pride Lands so you couldn't save him.

Janja took advantage of your shock and threw you off him. Your back made contact with rock and you groaned, catching the breath that escaped you.

You immediately bolted away from him, trying to navigate from deep within the bowels of the chasm. You ran as quickly as you could, feeling tears when you came to a dead end for the second time.

The pebbles on the ground rumbled and shook as you bounded through the chasms.

"(Y/N)!"

You looked towards to skies to see a familiar snowy bird swoop down before you and you sighed in relief.

"Ono! Which way to the Pride Lands?"

"Follow me!"

Keeping an eye on the bird that once again took to the sky, you ran after him, relief coursing through your body when you spotted the green vegetation of the Pride Lands.

Running even faster as the peak of Pride Rock came into your view, you forced your body to gulp down breaths of air as you sped up.

You vaguely spotted Kion on Pride Rock and your eyes widened, seeing the rhinoceros prepared to barrel towards him.

You pounced up Pride Rock to land in front of Kion, protecting him from the rhinoceros, crouched like you were prepared to attack him for your mate.

"(Y/N), what are you doi-" Rafiki silenced Simba by placing a hand on his shoulder.

An antelope glared at you, "Move out of the way."

You growled, "Make me!"

"(Y/N)..." Kion hissed in warning and you stepped closer to him, glaring at the rhinoceros in defiance.

Primal instinct ran through your veins at the thought of them trying to hurt your mate. You'd never let them. Your claws begged to be relieved. Your teeth yearned to cut through flesh. Your back arched defensively as you made no move to leave Kion unprotected.

The antelope looked at you with an unforgiving gaze, "Very well."

As you saw the rhinoceros run towards you, you briefly head Kion scream, "No!"

Adrenaline took over your body as you saw the white horn come closer.

You took a gasp of air and let instinct take over you.

You roared.
