Your racing heart and the blood rushing to your ears had you pacing around behind Pride Rock, trying to slow down your heart rate. Tonight, you and Kion would finally be rid of the pain and trouble that you had been facing up until now.

At first, you had wanted to tell his parents about your plan but Kion insisted that you leave discreetly, whether it was to keep them out of trouble or to keep them from trying to talk you out of it, you wouldn't know, but you agreed with his regardless. You planned to sneak out as soon as the pride was asleep and you wouldn't stop running until sunrise.

You were nervous, but excited for your new life with Kion. While you planned your escape, Kion would drop little hints about living with you, spending time with you, having a new life with you, which brought both your spirits up as well as make you slightly eager for this new experience.

As the time to your escape got smaller and smaller, your excitement was replaced with the creeping and crawling feeling of guilt and anxiousness in the pit of your stomach. You were skittishly pacing around the same tree you had for the past hour. You were so wrapped up in your nerves that you didn't notice someone creep up behind you.

"It'll be fine."

Kion's short words brought you comfort, not because of that sentence in itself, but because it was Kion who was saying it. Kion affectionately nuzzled the back of your neck and you released a few shaky breaths.

"Are you sure we should be doing this?" You turned to him with questioning eyes and he sighed, "You want to back out now?"

"No." You said curtly but then sighed, who were you kidding?

"I just- This is-Are you sure you won't regret it?" You murmured, not meeting his eye. You had wanted to run away for a while now, but once you had stopped thinking about what you wanted, you weren't sure that Kion should have been very committed to the idea.

"This is your home, Kion, you grew up here." You said. You weren't sure whether you were trying to convince to stay or not, but you kept speaking, without knowing where your lips were taking you.

"If we stay here, I'm going to die." Kion said shortly, but you could sense the ache in his voice. You sighed and nestled yourself under him chin, he returned you embrace, "After today," You mumbled, "No regrets."

He nodded and pulled away from you, "You and me?" You nodded, smiling gently, "Always."

"So, we're really doing this?" He asked, his voice slightly nervous and you snort, "Apparently."
