"Are you really sure about this?" Andrew asked for the nth time. It's been three days since Nathan left and I have confirmed that he's with Stacy when an associate of Andersons saw them at the Grandeur Hotel, just a few minutes drive from Casa Nueva. Now, we are inside a coffee shop waiting for the person who could help me get my plans into action.
"I've never been sure..." I responded without looking at him, instead I turned my head to the door's direction when the chyme danced with a soft tune a signal that someone came in. A tall guy in a grey suit stood his ground and obviously looking for someone. He raised his hand in recognition when he saw us, he is grinning from ear to ear.
I beamed at him and motioned my hand for him to come closer. I stood up and gave him a kiss on his cheek as a polite gesture while Andrew stood up as well and gave him a man-hug, tapping each others shoulder in the process.
"Hey, Liam! It's been a long time!" I can't help myself from being excited upon seeing him. Liam Anderson is my cousin. He's my uncle's third son and the one close to my age so we're pretty close.
"Hey, Cuz! Zup? Something wrong?" I rolled my eyes, Liam is candid as always. Since he is a detective, he don't entertain bullsh*ts and going straight to the point all the time.
"Oh c'mon, Liam. A small pep talk and a little family 'how are you' talk would not hurt, you know!" I nagged at him as I took my seat again. I saw Andrew chuckled on my peripheral vision and winked when he noticed me looking so I immediately look away, composing myself.
"Well... I suppose you won't invite me here just to have a family bonding, would you now?" Liam has his signature smug look on his face, being so arrogant all over the place.
I sighed in defeat and look at him straight in the eyes, full of seriousness now. "I want you to do something for me." With a stern look, Liam pulled a chair in front of me and settled himself comfortably, crossing his arms on his chest. He is studying me as if searching for the humor on my words. Finding nothing, he smirked at me, flexing his crossed arms just enough to show his proud muscles.
"Now you're talking, Kiara. Tell me, what is it?" I glanced at Andrew first as if he's my energy source. I almost jumped in surprise to see that the man is already staring at me. He nodded, telling me to go on so I sighed and look at Liam's direction again.
"I want to know every bits of information about Nathaniel Finnigan." My heart is pounding inside my chest while saying those words. I can't believe how hopeless I was to resort to this kind of absurdity. I can't believe that I'm going to run a background check on my 'best friend' slash 'fiancé's life!
Slightly taken a back, Liam shifted his gaze from me to Andrew and back to me. With a questioning look, I saw how his adams apple moved up and down as he swallowed hard. I nearly laughed at his expression."I...I thought you and Finnigan are in good terms? I can even remember that cheesy scene you both made us watch back on your debut party... What the fvck happened? Are you gonna dump him now for Simons here?" Liam gave us a scrutinizing stare. I could feel the tension building up with the notions my cousin has created himself. Before he could open his mouth again, I cut him off.
"Look, Liam. Let me explain the situation first before you make your conclusions." I looked around the coffee shop to see if there is anyone who would even yield an interest to what we are about to discuss. We are seated on the isolated corner of the shop but paranoia hits me every now and then, it's better be cautious.
