Chase.
I sat on the floor of my living room with both of my sisters by my sides. Alysia had been in better spirits the past week so we decided a movie night would be the perfect setting to catch up . We had already gotten through a three hour movie I had no interest in watching, a box of pizza, all of the wings we ordered and a half bottle of mango ciroc.
"So, Chase, how do you feel about Meg and Levi talking? Do you think if they break up you'll be affected?" Alysia asked and Megan rolled her eyes playfully.
"Damn you're already preparing for our break up? Sheesh." Megan giggled.
"No, I don't think I'll be affected." I told her honestly. "That's my brother, and Meg is my sister and that's how it'll be regardless."
"Ooh, Meg you should bring him to game night tomorrow." Alysia suggested and Megan shook her head quickly.
"No, I um. Well with Kayla being gone now it wouldn't be even."
"Chase will be there."
"Yeah, but he doesn't really know Trey and we would be rearranging teams and what not. I don't think-"
"Wait, Kayla's gone?" Alysia almost yelled. "Why the hell does everything have to happen while I'm not around?" she asked but I was just as confused.
"Yeah, what are you talking about?" I asked and she looked like she probably shouldn't have said anything.
Sighing, she played with her fingers and I couldn't help but wonder why she seemed so nervous and jittery. She went on to explain to us that Trey told her he had no knowledge of Kayla and I being serious when they started messing around and she had lied to him throughout their whole relationship. Even a blind man could see that though. Apparently, that was the final straw for him and he put her out. Now she and Kaiden were staying with her sister and her two daughters. Karma is a bitch. But that still didn't explain to me why she was so antsy, but like a ton of bricks it hit me.
I squinted my eyes at her but she continued to eat chips while Alysia spoke about something Jermaine said. I was still on the topic of Kayla, or Trey rather.
"Don't play my friend." I said aloud catching Megan's attention immediately.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" She asked me.
"You have that look. Like since Kayla is gone you two can go back to normal or something."
"What?" She asked in a semi high pitched tone. "Chase, please. I'm not thinking about Tremaine. Levi and I are good. Don't worry." she told me and I nodded.
"Good, because I love you, but the same way I wouldn't want him to hurt you, I don't want you to hurt him. He's a good guy and he really likes your ugly ass."
"I know." She smiled like she was thinking about him. Maybe I was tripping and she wouldn't go back to Trey. But with them, you really never know.
"Well, how are you and what's her name?" Megan asked taking the attention off of her.
"Ju?" I wondered.
"Oh yeah. Julianna." She cooed smiling way too hard.
I laughed. "I told you we were only friends. Don't start."
"Whatever. I never took a nigga I was just fucking over family's house for Thanksgiving."
"Say that!" Alysia cosigned and I was almost wishing she would go back to not talking. They loved to double team me.
"She's just cool. We vibe. It's not that deep." I told them honestly.
I had met Julianna years ago at a party on a very drunk night, got her number and never called. I truthfully had no idea who the number belonged to when I woke up the next morning, so I deleted it. But as drunk as I was then, I definitely remembered her face when we ran into each other six months ago in the long line at chipotle. I was surprised that she remembered me as well and we just talked while waiting to order our food. Ended up having lunch together and we've just been cool since.
