Alysia.

It was only ten in the morning and I already had the house smelling like Sunday dinner. Or Christmas dinner rather, even though it was a whole day before.

The roast potatoes and carrots were in the oven baking in it's own juices, while I took the pan of deviled eggs and placed them in the fridge to stay cool. Megan and I were both cooking to contribute to the big Christmas dinner we'd be having at Trey's house. I was surprised that I had gotten her to agree to go, but it was for the kids and even though it didn't feel like it sometimes, we were all family.

Megan was in control of the fried chicken, baked mac, and cheese, her sautéed cabbage and potatoes, and stuffing while I was in control of the roast, greens, yams, and deviled eggs. Siena was in charge of desserts, sweet potato pie and apple pie and Trey wouldn't let any occasion go by without making jerk wings. Jermaine was just in charge of putting the sweet hawaiian rolls in the oven when the time came, because he couldn't even boil water right.

It was like the crazier the year was, the better the holidays were.

"Honey, I'm home!" I heard from the living room and I rolled my eyes.

"What the hell are you doing here when you're supposed to be home slaving like me." I laughed and Megan took the glass of egg nog I was drinking and put it to her lips.

"Girl please. I'm tired of cooking. I needed a break." She laughed. "I'm just about done though so I deserve, bitch."

"Whatever." I laughed as well. "What's going on?" I wondered.

"Nothing. You know since everything happened with my mom a while ago, I've been thinking about going to see Lauren's mom." she told me and waited for my reaction.

"I think that's a good idea. She was like a mother to you, and I'm sure she'd want to know how you've been."

"Yeah, but what if she thinks it's all my fault? What if I'd just be a reminder that she doesn't have her daughter anymore?" She asked sadly and I looked over at her understanding her concern.

"Well, you won't know until you go."

She nodded and agreed.

"What else is going on with you though? How are things with Levi?" I asked her and she smiled small.

"Things are good. He's really sweet."

"Mhm." I hummed as I wiped down the kitchen counters.

"What Alysia? Go ahead and say what's on your mind."

"I just want to know why you're rushing things with him all of a sudden." I told her honestly.

She and Levi had only been talking for a month or so and they were discussing moving in together and everything.

"I'm at the age, where if it feels right I have to take advantage of it." She told me and I scrunched up my face trying to figure out where she got that logic from.

"Megan, you act like you're rotting. You're still beautiful, dress well, successful, and you don't look a day over twenty five what the hell do you mean you're at the age where if it feels right you have to take advantage of it? You don't have to rush to be with someone for the sake of being with someone." I scolded and watched tears well up in her eyes.

"I'm thirty." she laughed slightly and brushed back her tears before they were able to fall. "I always wanted more kids." She whispered with a shaky voice. "The older I get, the more high risk I'll become. My clock is ticking." she finished and Jermaine slowly walked in.
