Siena.
I stood in front of the large, brick building and looked around at the people who surrounded it. The scent of marijuana was sure to give me a contact high if I stayed put too long.
Growing cold and uncomfortable, I walked around to the side of the building to find the elevator out of service. "Maybe this is a sign." I said to myself, but proceeded to walk up the eight flights of stairs anyway.
I covered my nose and mouth to keep the smell of fresh urine out. I wasn't even sure where I was going, exactly. I just knew it was on the eighth floor.
The urine smell disappeared and I breathed deeply, inhaling the enticing scent of Men's Dove body wash.
"Siena?" I heard from the person coming down the stairs I was ready to go up, "What are you doing here?" He wondered while looking around shamefully.
"I wanted to see you." I informed lowly before looking around nervously. "I went to your grandma's but she said you only stay there sometimes. I thought you lived with her but I talked to Rashad and he told me you lived here on the eighth floor but he couldn't remember the number. "
"So you were just going to knock on every door?" King asked while chuckling slightly.
"I mean, yeah." I admitted dusting the imaginary lint off of my jeans.
"Well I'm glad I caught you and saved you from getting shot." He joked, but I eyed my surroundings again thinking he might have been serious.
The space around us grew awkwardly silent reminding me that I hadn't been in contact with him in so long, he even looked different to me; good different. I knew that was only my imagination though.
"Thank you for my Christmas gift." I told him, twirling the necklace around my finger and is sat around my neck.
"You know you don't have to thank me. You deserved it." He told me before zipping his coat up a little more. "So what did you come here for again? What did you need to see me about?"
"I just missed you. I thought maybe we could chill. It's been a while" I told him and watched him smirk, sending a gut wrenching tightness to the pit of my stomach.
"You haven't missed me or wanted to chill in quite some time now." He laughed, which caught me off guard. I hadn't thought about him being upset about my actions. "Why now? Because I got you a gift? Don't be that girl." He told me before tossing his hood over his head. I watched him take a few steps before he turned to face me again.
"Did you need me to drop you off somewhere? You don't need to be around here too long."
I nodded hoping that somehow I could fix what I had done to him on the ride home, but he didn't bother speaking.
"So, is this where we are now?" I asked once we neared my house. He only chuckled slightly while turning the steering wheel.
"I'm not sure what you're expecting from me, but I told you where I stood. I like you, but I'm not about to kiss your ass. I told you I was falling back and that's what I'm doing. You popping up on me isn't going to change that. So continue to blame me for your bad choice in friends and we can keep it moving." He told me as he parked in front of my door.
"Okay well what did you expect?" I asked, growing angry at his attempt to make me feel like the bad person. "Is it my fault that the girl you used to deal with had it out for me simply because she was bitter since you wanted me?"
"Is it mine?" He yelled and I fell silent.
"Okay, maybe it wasn't all your fault, but-" I began before hearing the doors unlock."What are you doing?"
