Here, have a supernatural story :D
===
He was confused with his identity. He didn't know what he was, or even who he was.
But that didn't matter at the moment. Not when you were being hunted down by the townsmen who believed that beasts should not live amongst them.
So that's what he thought of himself as : a scary beast that no one would ever like or even want to be associated with.
He knew it from the moment he first entered the town. From how the people gave him odd looks and how they would try to shuffle away when he tried asking for help. There was, however, that one person that accepted him the way he was.
Unfortunately, that person was sentenced to death once the rumors of their affiliation were confirmed. He could only watch as the only person he could trust was dragged away from their cozy home to be put behind bars, only to wait until the date of the execution.
But alas, it was found that the culprit had vanished a few days later! He and the people were baffled at such an occasion, without a clue at what sort of cunningness had been used. "Could it be sorcery?" they wondered.
But that was impossible, for there was no such thing as a mage or wizard in their little town. Sure, there were some shaman here and there, but the people just thought of those men to have lost their marbles not too long ago.
So the people started to ponder about how such an escape was possible. There weren't any faults in the sturdy structure of the prison. The reliable guards swore on their pride that they hadn't observed anyone sneaking in or out on the night before the discovery.
And after many days of conjured theories that were shot down after careful consideration, there was only one hypothesis left. One hypothesis that only confirmed his very doom.
Remember how he had an affiliation with the culprit? Well, the people believed that this affiliation was what helped the culprit escape the death sentence.
And so, he too became wanted. When he found out through a whisper through the grapevine, he packed his little belongings and attempted an escape from the determined people.
Speaking of which, the townsmen were so determined to not let this 'beast' bolt, that they planned a full on search party. Truthfully, they had wanted to rid of him from the moment he set foot into the town, but they could not without a proper reason to do so. So you could guess how thrilled they were to finally be able to do what they had wanted to from the beginning.
As for him, he wanted out of that horrid town anyways. There was no way he could tolerate their intolerance for much longer without this person. The person he slowly grew crossed at for abandoning him while he was in such a position that was obviously not in his favour.
So he ran and ran. Further, deeper into the forest which he soon got lost in like his understandings of the world around him. It wasn't the first time he was lost in the very forest, but it was the first time he lost the hope of finding an opening that would grant him safety.
After some time, he went from running to more of a careful pacing through the familiar, yet unfamiliar greenery. He didn't know how accustomed the townsmen were to the forest compared to him, so he made sure to be extra careful, in case he was to spot them.
When he thought he heard the infuriated barks of the townsmen, he dashed with all his might in the opposite direction of the awful voices.
And he was doing such a good job at running away. Until he tripped. Yeah. He just had to trip... good job m8.
Oh yeah, and he fell unconscious. whoopsies....
Anyways.....
He woke up with a throbbing head and sore legs. He moved them, then attempted the same thing with the rest of his body.
He rose from the so-so bed he was on to notice various apparatus and a bubbling cauldron in front of him.
The sounds of footsteps took away his attention from the cauldron to the shadow that was cast against the opposite wall. To him, the shadow exuded familiarity. Its movements and flow reminded him of how crossed he was with the person that left him. Or at least, how crossed he told himself to be.
"It's good to see you again, Jonghyun," the person he somewhat expected said.
Although, he was startled by the voice he heard instead. All it sounded was vile, wicked if you will. Not at all like the soothing, calming voice he remembered from their days amongst the just as vile people.
"What happened, (y/n)?" he managed to get out of his weak self from all the running earlier.
Once (y/n) made themselves comfortable next to him, he learned about a secret (y/n) had kept from everyone else. About the childhood that consisted of uncontrollable powers and abandonment from family and friends - a whole town, as a matter of fact.
This forced (y/n) to flee to another town, where the life of an average townsfolk was the only way to not be cursed at and sentenced to death. That was, until he came about.
Which made it clear as to why (y/n) decided to aid Jonghyun in the first place. (y/n) knew what it was like to be treated differently from others, and couldn't bear to see anyone suffer the experience they did.
And as of that moment, neither of them had to be treated that way any longer. They could live happily together as the 'freaks' their society onced deemed them to be, without having to hear any more negativity for as long as they possibly could :)
[~Lmao this could be a children's story XD Okay, maybe not since it involves death sentences :P Anyways, hopefully you're reading this on Halloween and if you're not, hope you njoyed it anyways :D Till the next time I write~]
