Alas, it was a week before the wedding of the century. Or to be more precise, your wedding.
Yet, you were unhappy. This was mainly because your wedding was a betrothal. And you were betrothed to that kid from the next kingdom. Not to say that they were bad, or rather, you hadn't a clue - you've never met this kid before.
All you had heard from the maidens was that they were someone who was intelligent, beautiful, someone who all of the lands adored. Someone who will maintain the peace of the conjoining kingdoms that was yours and theirs. At least you weren't wedded to an arrogant brat, or at least hoped so.
Servants were bustling in your castle - it was the night you actually got to meet them. The maidens assisted in dressing you in the finest clothes and soon, they left you alone to prep for the most significant meeting of your life.
Then there was a knock on the door. But not just any knock, it was this special knock that only one other person knew. It was so that you didn't attempt to shoo this person away with the indecency of a, well, fill in the blank XD
You lunged your heavy and stiff silhouette to the door and let in your literal knight in shining armour, the honest, most significant meeting of your life. The one who had saved you from the monotonous world of royal being and has shown you what it was like to be truly head over heels for someone :)
Unfortunately, there was no way the heavens would ever allow you two to be wedded. For you were the heir to your kingdom's thrown, while he was a mere knight, a servant to the king. The closest you two may ever be is with him being your rightful escort and personal guard.
And with the number of times you have expressed this concern to him, he has yet to budge at the fact. In his heart as well as yours, there was an ideal world that could accept the two of you as a pair.
But in your mind, it was for sure that he would be executed if anyone were to discover such disgrace within the castle walls. Not only that, but shame would also be brought upon your kingdom, and your people would have to suffer because you could not simply follow the set rules of hierarchy.
Even at the moment, you were to meet your future supposed dearest, he still denied the fact that your destiny was meant to be laid out this way. He has thought of numerous ways of how you two could escape to your own happily ever after, but you've always thought of how they could backfire. Each idea ended with an execution or two, as well as the clouds of unluckiness your kingdom would have to face.
But maybe this was what true love truly was - finding ways to be together, no matter the cost. And come to think of it, wasn't your love story quite similar to those of fairytales? Think of all the stories about princesses and how their princes always found ways to have their happily ever afters, despite all the hardships they had to go through.
And even those hardships may have just strengthened their relationships. And in your situation, there has been a bucket full of times where you could've ignored the knight and just acknowledged him as Sir Chan, but you didn't. Instead, you did what your heart told you to do - to stay by his side at all costs.
Just as you were about to melt in his arms, a loud knock on the door interrupted. "The other family has arrived!" was shouted from the other side. The both of you sighed, agreeing that this was just another moment to add to the 'list of times fate attempted to separate you two'.
Reluctantly, the both of you exit, the maiden who had called you bows her head at you. The both of you return the gesture, then make your way to the dining hall, where the two families had already gathered.
You finally get to meet the supposed love of your life. Yippee. You tried to be interested in whatever they had to offer, but you could feel Sir Chan's eyes watching you from afar. Possibly jealous that someone else had the privilege of marrying you.
After the dinner, you and your future spouse were left in your bedroom to talk. Because to parents of royalty, talking seems to be the way to woe someone =.=
Well, if that was true, your future spouse must have had lovers before. The way they worked their words seemed to be so smooth and planned out. It was as if before talking, they had a cup full of confidence, but not too much until they seemed cocky.
And to be honest, you were quite mesmerised by their art. Maybe it was because before, many people were present that you didn't feel very much about them. But now that you two were alone, it was as if they were casting a spell on you. One that wouldn't work with many people present.
Boy, royal parents sure knew how to get their kids to marry XD
And then the night had to come to an end. You follow them to the entrance of the castle and say your goodbyes, completely captivated by the time you two spent alone. It almost felt as if it wasn't long enough, that you wanted that time to extend. You wanted more of them.
Afterwards, you head back to your room, giggling to yourself while thinking of some of the things they had said. You thought of them as intriguing, delightful, and not to mention quite good-looking, just as the maidens had said. No wonder all of the land adored them.
Then that special knock comes on your door. You hadn't heard it the first time, so when the second one came, you scurried on over to the door and let Sir Chan into the room.
"So, how was the meeting with that kid from the next kingdom?" And forgetting that Sir Chan was the one who asked, you go on to say that the kid from the next kingdom was alright.
"What? How so, my love?" Then you go on to say how polite and interesting they were, and maybe point out a few features of theirs that you thought made them look absolutely dream-like.
Meanwhile, Sir Chan just sat there, baffled by the words coming from your mouth. He hadn't imagined his beloved to describe someone else with such enthusiasm, especially that kid from the next kingdom. In fact, he thought you weren't interested in them at all, looking back at the plain face you had given them during dinner.
And so he asks about what had happened during your time in the very room you two were sitting in. Your answer sounded rather odd, with some "I don't know"s and little spurs of how dreamy they were every now and again.
Sir Chan couldn't possibly take you seriously with such an answer. He knew you too were an intelligent being, so the fact that some kid from the next kingdom could turn you into such a mess with your words seemed like such an utter feet.
Unless, of course, this courtship was with the assistance from external resources?
Perhaps it wasn't their natural charm that caught your attention, for as seen during dinner, you weren't at all interested in their words. Could they have put something in your drink? Or maybe something in your food.
Or could it possibly be witchcraft that helped this kid from the next kingdom?
[~omg what have a written XD but ono Dino is my inspiration to be passionate about the things I love (omg help my updating ways XD) and tbh, the only medieval show I ever remember watching is Merlin and Narnia, not even the full things really, so that's probs why this story doesn't seem to be so spot on (and Brave if you want to count that one) :P Till the next time I write~]
