I felt Riley's sadness as we drove to school. I know that she really doesn't want to go, and wishes to avoid it, but she needs to learn, or pretend to learn at the least.
"You do know that your going to have to spend almost the entire day with out me?" She asked. I knew what she was talking about. The dance finals.
"Yeah, I know. Maybe I could ditch and go see you preform."
"I thought that you wanted people to be educated." She teased me.
"Yes, but I've gone to school many times, you on the other hand, haven't."
"Fine, but don't tell Bella. She would then want o come, and I can't deem her to a life of ditching school." She said very dramatically. We both laugh as we drove into he school parking lot.
I get out of the car, and see Riley starring at something, I look in the direction, and see her sister hugging the guy that used to be Riley's best friend.
"Are you okay?" I ask her, she nods, but I know that she isn't okay. "Come on, what's the problem?"
"It's nothing really, just an old friend." She waved at Jacob Black, but he doesn't wave back. I know that she's kind of upset, but I feel like she's almost used to it.
I turn around and pull Riley with me into the school building. I know that it's hard for her to see her ex-best friend being so nice to her sister, so I try to calm her down. We join up with Alice on the second floor, but she needed to find Bella, so we went with her. Alice jumped off the side of the staircase, and hugged Bella.
"Happy Birthday!" My sister said in a cheery voice.
"Shh, I thought I said no presents." Bella complained.
"Oh hush, I saw you open it, and you love it. And the party is tonight." She said over excitedly.
"Alice." Bella groaned.
"Shush, this will be a great party, and who knows we might have more celebrating to do than your birth." Riley leaned over to me and told me that I should use my powers to convince her to come.
"Please come." Alice begged.
"Fine." Bella said, Alice skipped towards us, and I let off on her emotion. "And Jasper, no fair with the mood control."
"Sorry Bella. Happy-never mind." I trail off after seeing her glare at me.
I drag Riley down the hall towards the busses to go to the Dance Competion.
Riley texted me the address for the completion, and when I get seated. I look at the list, I know this should be interesting. Forks is the last group to go. I didn't really pay attention to the other groups, but then it was Riley's turn. She looked so free and like she loved what she was doing. The whole crowd loved it. I know that they are going to win. When they announced that Forks won, everyone from that dance team came out on the stage. I headed back out into the lobby to congratulate Riley as soon as they got out.
I saw her before she saw me, so I picked her up from behind. She turned around, and we shared a short, but sweet kiss.
"Great job on getting first."
"Thanks, you know that Bella's birthday party is in, like, three hours, right?" She asked me. "How are we going to make it on time?"
"You'll just have to ride with me I guess." I answered. We drove back to Forks at a vampire worthy speed, and I dropped her off at her house.
"I don't know if it's going to be me, or someone else to pick you up. Just be ready in time." I tell her, then I drive back home.
