The rest of the day was spent preparing for tomorrow. From getting the construction team on board. To convincing everyone to help out and getting everything sorted and ready. Like Rick said the faster the better.
Even through out the night all I could focus my mind on was Ricks plan. Going over the route in my head making sure I knew what we had to do to make this happen. Making sure we were all safe.
I woke up suddenly the next morning as Daryl had dropped his crossbow. I sat up and looked at him as he tried to be as quiet as he could picking it up. I couldn't help but shake my head a little and smile. He, Sasha and Abraham have one of the most important jobs in insuring the walkers are lead as far away from Alexandria as possible.
"Morning." I croaked with my familiar morning voice.
Daryl turned his head and looked at me before he came and sat on the bed next to me. "You alright?"
"Yeah. Gotta be." I smiled. "You?"
Daryl released a long sigh before looking back towards me. "Yeah."
"No you're not. What's up?" I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders and stood up from the bed before swinging his crossbow over his shoulder. "Rick's already taken a group to Marshall road. Wants us to meet him there." He said sternly, changing the subject.
Not wanting to make anything awkward I nodded my head and quickly got dressed making sure my knife was securely in my blet before I followed Daryl downstairs. It looked like everyone else was already up and working with those who were meeting Rick ready to go.
We waited a few more minutes before we finally left the house and met up with a few others where we took the cars and the RV to the site. I sat next to daryl and I could clearly see there was something bothering him but every time I'd try to ask he'd just look at the road and shrug me off.
Once there I got out and Rick walked over to us. He already had Michonne and Abraham with the construction team building the metal fences around some cars whilst Carol was handing out refreshments.
Daryl got straight to it as Rick informed the rest of us what we were doing. The whole time my mind was focused on Daryl and what was botherig him so much. I know I haven't been perfect and I know I can sometimes go a bit over the top but I want him to know he doesn't have to be afraid to talk to me.
"Lily." Someone broke me from my trance. I turned around and Maggie was stood behind me.
"Sorry. What did you say?" I asked as I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hand.
"Is everything alright?" She asked and placed one hand on my upper arm.
I nodded back. "Yeah. I just can't believe this is actually happening." I changed the subject.
"It'll work. It has to." She smiled.
We both looked around as more pannels were being unloaded from the trucks and together we picked up a shovel each and got to work digging a channel for the pannels. Every now and again Daryl would come by and collect dirt and take it to Rick for him to fill sand bags. All of us working to make the plan a reality.
After a while Heath and Tobin took over from us and Carol handed us some water. I looked around at everyone as they placed and secured the boards into the ground and moving cars. Then I noticed Tara standing up against one of the RVs looking towards Glenn and Nicholas. "Shouldn't Tara be resting?" I asked Maggie as the concern built up inside me.
"Come on." Maggie placed the empty plastic cup on a table and walked over to her. I did the same. "You should take it easy."
"He got Noah killed." Tara sighed without taking her eyes from Nicholas, avoiding the question.
