Our team got paired up with another team yesterday kaya hindi kami nagkita ni Mr. James Davidson. Yesterday was another feeding program, today we're going up a small school in the mountains.
"Beatrice, okay lang ba kung ikaw ang magd-discuss sa mga bata mamaya?" Tanong sa akin ni ate na naga-act as the leader of the team.
One of the three members ng kabilang grupo ang magtuturo. Para lang din maaliw ang mga bata on having a foreigner teacher.
I went on discussing with the topic of multiplication.
"Kids, this is Kuya James 2." Sabi ko sabay pakita ng nametag niya.
"Just call me Kuya D. I don't like coming in second that's why just call me Kuya D." He turned medyo seryoso kaya I tried to lighten up the ambiance.
"Wow, humuhugot si Kuya D!" Natawa naman ang mga bata. Medyo natulala kasi sila kanina noong nagsalita siya. Siguro kasi dahil sa accent niya.
After teaching the kids, we had the time to ourselves. James and I got to know each other more. He is from Scotland but grew up in Westminster. He lives with his step mother and step siblings there kasi nasa USA ang dad niya. And he decided to go lilo from the spotlight kasi it's been very stressful and privacy invading. Right now, he lives with his grandmother. Hindi siya Pilipina but was living here since noong namatay ang husband niya.
"Kailan ka babalik?" Tanong ko kay D. Nawala sa isip ko na foreigner nga pala itong kausap ko. "Oh. I'm sorry. When are you coming back to England?"
He then chuckled after my question. "It's okay. I understand a bit Tagalog. I'm planning on going back this September only for awhile."
"What are you going to do when you get back?"
"I don't know. Just shop around, have fun or maybe a little work."
"You miss it, don't you?"
"Miss what? My job? Not the job itself, I think. I'm just not used to hanging around so freely."
Naintindihan ko naman siya, parang ang boring din kasi kapag after years of doing something you just drop it off. "I'm also going back in England, too. I'd be continuing my MBA journey in there. Autumn Term."
"Guess I'd be seeing you there, Beatrice."
"I guess you will."
