"We have more than ten patients arriving from a traffic accident in skyway. We're in need of doctors."

"Ok. On my way."

He then dropped the call.

"Babalik pa ako sa Alabang. Ihahatid na muna kita."

"No." I said with conviction. "Mapapalayo ka lang lalo. Para namang you don't know how traffic it is in Manila. I'll come. Tatawagan ko na lang sila mommy."

Everything was in chaos when we arrived at the Doctors' valet.

"How are the patients?"

"Others only have minor injuries po. One is with the neurology department already and you only have to take care with one. Madami na ang nawalang dugo and he's still unconscious."

We we're striding our way to the emergency room at kung ano yung gulo na naabutan ko sa Doctors' valet eh wala pa pala sa kung ano ang mayroon sa ER.

Nakakakaba.

"Nasaan na yung patient?"

"He was still in the ER before I left, ready for transfer to the OR."

"Relatives already informed?"

"Still calling the others."

Jay looked at the residents to do, I think, the tasks assigned to them. The other resident nodded and the others went straight to where the patients are and the others did their thing.

"You have to stay in the waiting area, Elle. I'll be back. Ask Tito to fetch you if incase operations get too long."

Like instructed, I waited.

Hi ma, I'm at Jay's hospital in Alabang. Ihahatid na niya sana ako pauwi kaso nagkaroon ng emergency. Don't worry, we're fine. Goodnight. I love you. Sent.

The hospital is one of the most busiest place in the world. The most dangerous one too. Medyo nakaka-stress to stay here, but I don't want to be like one of the lost kids, kaya I'd be waiting here.

Unknown Number calling...

"Hello? Who is this?"

"Good evening. Are you somehow related to Mr. James Davidson?"

"Uhm yea. Who is this?"

"I'm from Midtown Medical Centre in Alabang po. We would just like to inform you that he was in a traffic accident earlier. He was sent here, we will just tell you the details when you get here."

Everything became blurry. I couldn't see.

"I'm here. I'm already here."

I dropped my phone. Eyes were once again clouded with tears. From where I'm seating, I'm still hearing the voices of panic and fear inside the emergency room. The door opened and looking across the floor, I saw the same brown shoes I know by its every detail, walking across of me, away from me.

"Jay."

I raised my head only to see and to find out that it was James they were talking about earlier. Ready for transfer to the operating room. Lying on the blood-stained hospital bed.

"Jay!" He faced me holding a pair of white shoes.

I was rushing towards the team, but he stood still. Stopping me.

He held me tightly on my shoulders. "Don't cry, Elle."

He wiped my tears. "Everything will be okay."

I have always believed in what he can do, and always felt surely safe whenever he speaks so softly of my name. But this time, it's weirdly different.

He caged me in his arms. "Please, Elle. Trust me this time." He planted a kiss on my forehead, squeezed my shoulders, and with that, he left.

At 2AM, I had my mom and nan beside me. We were just in nervous anticipation of what's to happen. I'm glad to have them here, baka sinugod na din ako sa emergency room kung wala sila dito.

"Mr. Davidson?" One of the staff called out, still in his operating clothes. "They're already done cleaning him up. You can see him in his room now." Mom and Nan let me visit him first, alone.

I stood by the door, nervous on what I'll be seeing behind it.

"He's okay now. We'll just have to wait by the time he wakes up." Jay happily said while fixing the tubes injected on James's hand. I went straight to the chair beside the bed.

James's hand is covered up with bandages that was then soaked up with tears, my tears. "You made me nervous."

"Don't cry on it. He might get infected."

"Thank you, Jay." I looked up on him, smiling dearly.

He went beside me and patted my shoulders. I was back to looking at James, sleeping soundly. We were just staring at James in complete silence.

I heard Jay started walking away from us that made me look back at him.

He was facing the door, hands inside the pocket of his white coat. "Have I said it earlier," He paused and took a deep breath. "Could we have happened?" He moved his head enough for me to see the side of his face.

"We could have."

I saw a faint smile forming on his lips as he walked out of the door.
