-Chapter 13-
I ran with my book above my head towards my destination. I was soaking wet from head to toe and it was chilly. As I neared the door of the building, a car passed by with full speed and the puddle near the curb I was standing on was splashed on me.
"Curses." I muttered as I entered the library. "Of all days, mother nature decides to wet the earth. Which is also the day I have no transport to the library."
"So now you are talking to yourself huh?" he had a slanted smirk on his face. His hair was a little messy as some locks of his hair was covering his blue eyes. The room I entered suddenly feel so warm because the heater was on. I took off the wet jacket and hanged it at a corner to dry.
"Um.. no... I was.. just um.." I stuttered.
"Maybe you are just going crazy. From smiling to yourself to saying your thoughts out loud and now talking to yourself. I find you amusing Evans." he chuckled.
"I-I-I um. I am not crazy." I tried to defend myself but could find no explanation for my weird behaviour. I decided to ignore him and walk to the fire place to get some heat.
"Relax, I am just pulling your leg." he teased with a cute smile hanging on his face. I could not help but smile too. Something about this guy just makes me nervous and butterflies in my stomach multiply. Seriously. What is up with him? I am friends with loads of guys, most of them hot too but Jake was different. It is undenaible that he is hot, has a built up body, nice features but why was I nervous around him?
"You are soaking wet. You should have brought an umbrella. It is raining really heavily." He said laughing at my misfortune.
"Duh Captain obvious." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Then why didn't you bring one?" It was bad enough he stated the obvious but now asking a dumb question. Unbelievable.
"Are you seriously asking me that question?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Are you seriously going to answer my question with another question?" he questioned me back. Wow that was a lot of the word 'question' in only one sentence.
"It wasn't raining when I came out of the house." I replied him with a 'duh' tone.
"Hey, there is a possibility you dont own an umbrella or you are just lazy to bring one. How am I suppose to know? I do not read minds Evans. Although I would love to know what you are always thinking about." he joked.
I surrendered. There was no point in arguing with him.
"Wait, You walked here?" His eyes widen with horror.
"Yes." I couldn't stand him asking me so many question so I walked pass him to the shelves. I needed to continue the book I was reading. It was about a girl who was living the dream when she met a prince who fell in love with her and her life became complicated as there were enemies who were jealous of her and how she coped being in the royals.
"Here." He said handing me his phone. "Put your number inside. I'll give you a miss call later so you can save mine. If you need anything just call. If you keep walking in the rain like this, you are going to be sick." He winked. My stomach fluttered and my heart leaped. I took the device from him and dialled in my number. I bit my lower lip as I returned it to him. Nervous was the only which could describe my feelings then.
