-Chapter 23-

My eyelids were heavy again, it was getting normal to me as I had been passing out a lot recently. My head was still throbbing and my throat was burning. I licked my lips to find it cracked and dry. I groaned in pain as I moved my head slightly.

"Ashley?" I heard my dad hoarse voice say.

I responded with a 'hmm?' as I lift my eyelids, only to squint at the bright sunlight coming in from the opened window.

"She is awake! Get the doctors." my dad ordered and a heard footsteps exiting the room.

"Dad?" I croaked as he walked towards beside my bed.

"Yes pumpkin? You feeling alright?"

I nodded.

"Ms Ashley Evans?" someone said as I raised my head to see who it was. It was a lady dressed in a white coat.

Dr Lim.

"Hi doctor." I mumbled.

She sticked a thermometer in my mouth and proceeded to take my blood pressure. She did the usual checking and started to jot something down on her clipboard. She was not in the best mood at the moment.

"Everything is normal. I am guessing you didn't take enough water. How many times do you want to see me and I nag you to drink more water?" she frowned slightly. I shot her an apologetic smile. Running makes me forget things.

"Sorry doc."

"Sorry is not going to do you any good. I just don't want to see you here so often. I will need your blood sample and we are going to run a test just to make sure." she said and a nurse came in with a needle.

"Get that away from me!" I yelped.

"It is for your own good."

"NO! GET IT AWAY FROM ME!" I screamed and jerked my hand away.

"Fine." she said and I relaxed. That was when she poked the needle in my arm.

"OWWW OUCH!" I screamed and she pulled the needle out slowly. It happened really fast that I had no time to react properly.

I narrowed my eyes at her as she winked at me and walked out.

"Ashley! Are you okay?" Evelyn came in a panicked state, followed by everyone.

"I am fine. How long was I unconscious? And where was I before this?" I asked confused. Not remembering anything sucked.

"Since yesterday evening. And you passed out after running across the finishing line for hurdles." Evelyn explained.

"Hurdles?" Everything came back slowly.

Right. My head was hurting when I was running. Wendy was in front of me and Tina was really close to catching up but who won? "Who won?" I asked.

"You." Aaron told me.

"Really?" I beamed.

"The last step. You beat her by a milli second. One miserable milli second." Aaron laughed.

"How is it miserable?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I mean for her. She was a milli second close to getting first place." he laughed again.
