Slowly Ani felt herself wake up. She felt like she had been sleeping for a very long time. She didn't want to open her eyes, she felt so peaceful. She was about to fall back into sleep when everything that had happened came rushing back.

Her and Luke arguing.

The shock she felt as he grabbed her.

Jake coming out of no where.

The fear and hatred on Luke's face.

The feeling like she couldn't breath.

Then nothing.

Her eyes snapped open and her heart raced, she shot up and went to jump off of the bed she lay on. Her right arm was almost retched from its socket and she heard a clinking. She turned and looked at the bed she had been laying on, it was a hospital bed and she was hand cuffed to the side railing.

Her shoulder throbbed slightly with pain and she climbed back onto the bed to relieve the pressure. Taking a deep breath she tried to calm her heart. Had Jake kidnapped her? She shook her head, no that didn't sound right. Why didn’t it sound right though? He had been the last person she saw. Why wouldn’t he have kidnapped her?

Ani looked around the small empty room; the bed she sat on seemed to be the only thing in the room. A large door sat in the farthest wall. It was oak and looked old.

She put her feet on the railing with her arm in between them and started pulling. She yanked at the cuffs and could feel the cold metal cutting into her skin. It hurt and caused her to cry out in pain, but she didn’t stop. She was so concentrated on her task she never noticed someone walk into the room.

He watched her for a moment then sighed. "Even if you get out of the cuffs you won't make it out of the room."

Ani froze and looked at him, confusion filled her eyes. "Brice?" She stared at him for a moment, then a burning rage filled her eyes. "Brice you son of a bitch! What the hell is going on!? Let me go you sick bastard!"

Brice started laughing and walked over to the bed. "Calm down Ani. I didn't kidnap you so I don't have the key." He stopped at the side on the bed next to her.

Ani glared at him then spat in his face. "Burn in Hell." She knew there was a reason she always hated him. He was a sick twisted bastard.

Brice chuckled as he wiped the spit from his face. "Been there, done that. I think you might like it to." He smirked.

Ani curled as tight into a ball as the cuffs allowed her. All the fight left her. What was the reason for fighting if she couldn’t get out? "What do you want from me?" Her voice was a small whisper.

Brice sighed. "You really don't know do you?" He sighed again as she didn't answer. Turning to leave he stopped for a moment. "You really shouldn't hate us." He pointed out. "We're only trying to help." He left.

Ani pulled herself even tighter into a ball, ignoring the pain from the cuffs. Silently she started to cry, for the first time in her life she felt truly scared and alone. She had no idea what was going on. She had no idea where she was. Everything was confusing and made no sense. Why her?

After what felt like hours she heard the door creek as it slowly opened. She squeezed her eyes shut and tensed as she waited for the worse.

She sensed someone standing next to her at the side of the bed, they just stood there watching her. She went cold as she heard an all to familiar voice. "Ani?" David asked softly.

David? Had he done this to her? Why? He was her friend, or she thought he was. Luke’s words echoed in her mind. 'I was, am, trying to protect you.' Was this what he meant? Did Luke know that David was a creepy kidnapper? Why hadn’t he told her if he knew?

Slowly she uncurled from her ball to look at him, her eyes were red from crying and her wrist was raw from when she had tried to escape again. "David?"

David nodded and smiled sweetly. "Yeah Ani it's me. I came to take your cuffs off and get you something to eat. Hungry?"

David had kidnapped her, yet he still seemed like her friend. Why else would he let her eat? Ani had read enough to know most captives don't smile sweetly and offer to feed their prisoners. Shaking slightly she sat up to look at him better. He looked neutral, but when she looked into his eyes she saw the pain that had slipped through his mask. "Why am I here?" She croaked. She wanted to know what was going on.

David flinched slightly, but then gave her his famous crooked smile. "Can I explain over lunch? I don't know about you but I'm starved." He sounded just like he had when they were at school. Back before she thought he was a crazy psycho. He has to be crazy or at the least mentally messed up.

Ani watched him for a moment. Could she trust him? Sure he looked like her David and he acted like her David, but her David wasn't a kidnapper. Or was he? Ani shook her head slightly. What other choice did she even have? With a sigh she nodded. "Alright." She would trust him, at least as far as she could throw him.

David slowly moved closer to the bed and pulled a pair of keys from his pocket. He moved so slowly, like he was afraid a sudden movement would cause her to snap.

Ani pulled her arm to her chest and rubbed her wrist after he uncuffed her. She didn't look at him. "What are we eating?"

She heard him chuckle. "Come and find out." He held his hand out to her. Ani ignored it and slipped off the bed, she took a moment to steady herself then headed for the door.

David followed her and as she reached the door he reached around her and unlocked it. He held it open and smirked. "Sure you want to leave? You're safe in here." His voice was playful, but something in his eyes said he meant it.

Ani felt like an ice cube had been dropped down her spine. Taking a deep breath she scowled and pushed past him. She heard David lock the door behind them.

No going back now.
