New Chapter

~~

Ani sat in a large, round room. The walls were made of a strange looking metal that was covered in scorch marks. The ceiling was made of the same metal with rafters and pipes crossing and zig zaging slightly under it. The floor was made of a pure white metal that had dark burns peppered through out it.

She didn't look at the door as she heard it open; she knew exactly who it was. It had been three days sense she had gotten back from Paris. She had been visiting Luke in this room sense then.

It wasn't very productive. He would tell her to do something, she would try. It never worked. She would start to feel her skin tingle, then it would burn and hurt. Luke would then become upset and say she wasn't trying; she would freak out and lose control. Then Jake would come and have to calm her down. It was the same thing everyday.

Luke sat next to her. "Want to try and create a Shadow ball? Or would you rather try to learn some history today?"

Ani looked at him. "We should just do history everyday. It would make everything so much easier. We wouldn't fight anymore."

Luke looked at the bracelet on his wrist; it was a house arrest bracelet. Only Sheen had added two special features. There was a red button on it that sent out a high pitched whistle that Jake could hear, it signaled that Luke needed them. The second feature was that if Luke tried to run the bracelet would inject Qeres into his system. Ani had no idea what Qeres was.

"What's Qeres?" She suddenly asked. Luke had told about the features, but didn't tell her about anything else.

Luke glanced at her. "It's the only thing that can kill an Angel besides for another Angel. Egyptians used it as a perfume for the dead, it was said that it provided the first sweet breath to the after life." He shrugged. "I don't know if that's true or not. The way to make it was lost over the centuries, but a few Demons seem to remember how to make it."

Ani shivered. Something in her really didn't like how close the Qeres was. "I'm sorry they're doing this to you Luke." She whispered.

Luke shrugged. "It's really not a big deal." He leaned back on his hands. "If I close my eyes I can almost ignore the bracelet. It's kind of nice to be away from everyone." He gave a slight smile. "Any more questions?"

Ani looked at the ground and tapped her hand against the ground. "I don't even know where to start. I'm starting to remember things, but most of it is so fuzzy."

They both looked at the door as it opened. Jake walked in. "I became worried when I didn't hear you fighting. Are you talking?"

Luke nodded. "We decided to just talk today, so I'm answering any questions that she has." He shrugged. "We're both tired of fighting."

Jake nodded. "That's good. So what were you talking about before I came in?"

Ani narrowed her eyes slightly; she knew what he was doing. He was trying to make sure Luke didn't tell her anything he didn't want her to know. "We were talking about Qeres and how horrible I think Sheen is for threatening Luke this way."

Jake sighed. "You'll understand once you remember everything." He turned to leave.

Ani blinked. "Wait. Aren't you supposed to reincarnate me? What happened to the rules?" that was something that had been really bugging her.

Jake stopped walking and shook his head. "I promise to explain everything later. Just wait until you finish training, or remember everything. Then I will tell you everything." He left.

Ani watched the door for a moment then looked at Luke. "Tell me everything you know about Jake before he became my guardian. I know that Vampires were created by Lucifer as slaves to walk the Earth for him, but they realized this and didn't like being controlled so fought back. The Angels took their side and helped them become free. At the end of that war Vampires were given the choice, continue to work for the Demons, or work for the Angels. Was Jake there?" she wanted to know as much about Jake as she could.

Luke sighed. "Jake was one of the first, he was also the first to rebel. After the war, when they were told to chose, Jake basically spat in their faces. He said he didn't rebel from one King to be placed under another one. He refused to pick a side; he just wanted to be free. So he left both of them. He chose to walk the Earth alone. Basically he spent his days doing whatever he wanted until your mother come to him, heart broken and lost. She begged for him to take you, since he was the only person who didn't have a side that was strong enough to protect you. At first he said no, that it wasn't his problem. Then you mother said the magic word. Freedom. She said she didn't have to freedom to protect her own daughter. He quickly took you after that, telling her that he would be your guardian until either he died or she released him."

Ani was watching the ground. So she basically took away his freedom that he had fought so hard for. No wonder he was so distant. Did he really love her? If so why? She had ruined his life, why should he love her?

Ani shook her head. "That was....informative." she stood up and faced him. "I think we should try training again. I promise to try and not lose it this time."

Luke sighed and stood. "Alright and I promise to try and not yell at you over every little mistake. Every one makes mistakes."

Ani smiled and stood at the ready, she would learn her powers. For Jake, so he could be free.
