Ani sat silently in the training room. She lay down and watched the door upside down, Luke was late. She could feel Jake was close, maybe on the other side of the door. She wondered why. She was very good at telling where he was now, even if he was far away.
Suddenly the door opened and Luke walked in, Jake came in behind him. Ani rolled over and lay on her stomach. She crossed her ankles in the air and watched them. She could tell they had been talking about her and decided to just wait and see what they were going to tell her. Jake hardly ever kept things from her.
Luke stood a few feet from her. "She's done training. I can't teach her anymore. Unless you let me show her true form there is nothing I can do."
Jake shook his head, then looked at Ani. "Is he telling the truth? Do you really know everything now?" He sounded tired.
Ani nodded. "Yup." She grinned. "I could show you if you want. Luke was a very good teacher. The others helped to though." Ani thought about when either Jason or Sheen would come in and show her how to use her Demon powers. She liked training with them, they were nicer then Luke was. Luke pushed her though, they didn't.
Jake shook his head. "I believe you." He looked at Luke. "She doesn't need to know her true form yet. Not until she remembers."
Ani stood. "What's my true form?" She asked, not really expecting an answer. She’d asked before and Jake told her she wasn’t ready yet.
To her surprise Luke did answer her. "Your wings." He glared at Jake, daring him to say something. Daring him to yell at him for ignoring an order.
Ani blinked, then chuckled. "Funny Luke. I don't have wings." She didn't believe she did. The others said you could feel your wings, she couldn't. So she didn't have them.
Luke rolled his eyes. "Your father, Lucifer, was an Angel and had wings. Your mother, Savanna, is an Angel and has wings. That means you have wings."
Jake shook his head. "Yes and she shall get them once she remembers everything. She doesn't remember enough." He sighed. "Training is over. Luke can go free." He walked over to Luke and unlocked the bracelet.
Luke rubbed his wrist as the bracelet fell to the ground with a clatter. He rolled back his shoulders and smiled.
Ani gasped as a sickening ripping sound came from Luke's back. Then his wings snapped out. Ani had never seen Angel wings before; she had only seen the wings of the Outcasts. The Outcasts wings were gray and looked slightly sick. Luke's wings were beautiful. They were pure white and looked as soft and fluffy as a new born kitten’s fur. She wanted to reach out and touch them.
Luke stretched them out to there full length of fourteen feet and shook out his ruffled feathers. "That feels so nice." He let them hang loose from his shoulders.
Ani stared at them in shock. "Your-your wings are beautiful." She whispered. She took a step closer to him. "Can I touch them?"
Luke glanced at Jake, when he nodded Luke looked back at her. "I guess." His voice was soft. "If you want to." He sounded almost insecure.
Slowly Ani walked over to him and ran her hand over his wing; it was as soft as it looked. She continued to stroke it. "Does it hurt?"
Luke shrugged. "You get used to it. It stings, but you learn to live with it. In the beginning it hurts really bad though."
Ani stepped away as Jake cleared his throat. He looked at Luke. "You're free Luke. You can go back home now. I am sure your parents miss you."
Luke looked at Ani, then sighed. "I don't want to leave. I was always angry up there, not happy. But now I am. I can feel my light shinning; I can't remember the last time that happened. I want to stay."
Jake watched him. "If you stay you will lose your light, you will become an Outcast. Just like every other Angel and Demon who stayed on Earth."
Luke shook his head. "No I won't. My father will keep trying to save me like last time, if only to keep my mother happy. If I fall my mother will come after me and my father can't risk that."
Ani smiled; proud he had figured that out. "You are so smart Luke."
Luke blushed. "It's nothing really. Just simple reasoning." He shrugged, embarrassed.
Jake watched for a moment, then sighed. "If training is done then I guess I can show you this now. No use putting it off any longer." He headed for the door. "Follow me."
Ani and Luke looked at each other for a moment, then raced after Jake. Ani wondered what he was going to show them. It couldn't be good if he didn't want to tell them. He always tried to protect her, she remembered that much.
Jake lead them back to the room she had first woken up in. Everyone was crowded around the new TV watching the news. She remembered how Jake had been upset when he found out about the TV, since it was hard for them to get things down here.
A very pretty blond haired blue eyed news woman was standing outside of a church. Police tape surrounded it and people were walking in and out. "Police have no comment on how this mass death happened, but it seems some kind of poison gas was used."
Ani gasped as the medics came out carrying a stretcher, on it was a black body bag. They were dead; everyone in that church was dead.
Samuel closed his eyes. "That's number eighteen Jake, and I heard that the church was full. Completely." Stephen made a sickening sound and looked away.
Ani just stared at the TV in horror, she felt sick. "Wha-what is this?" She whispered in horror. A part of her mind was completely sickened by what she was seeing…though another part knew what was happening and seemed excited.
Luke dropped to the ground, his wings loose behind him. "When did this start?" He asked, not able to look away from the screen as another body came out.
Sheen shrugged. "We don't really know, maybe after we took Ani, maybe before. All we know is that this is the third one they broke."
Luke groaned and Ani looked at Stephen. She was scared. She didn't know what they were talking about, but it wasn't good. "What's broken?" He wouldn't look at her. She turned to Jake. "What's going on Jake? Why are all of those people dead?"
Jake sighed. "Have your patents told you about the sixty six seals?"
Ani felt her heart drop as she nodded. "Yes. The Demons must break all sixty six seals for Lucifer to rise from Hell."
Jake looked back at the TV as yet another body was taken out. "This is the third."
