Jerome
I watched, terrified, as everyone below me fell through the ground into what seemed like nothingness. I had been the first one to reach a tree, and I had quickly climbed the vines until I sat on the treetop.
I saw Twilight reach for a tree next to mine, only to have her feet fall through the mud. She let out a yelp of surprise and was gone.
I was frozen in shock. How could this be happening? This kind of stuff never happened in minecraft before!
"Jerome!"
I snapped out of my thoughts as I saw Bash standing close to my tree.
"Swing me a vine!" he called. I quickly grabbed a vine from the tree and swung it in his direction. He caught it and began to climb up it hurriedly. Two seconds later, the ground where he had been standing collapsed.
"What are we gonna do?!" Bash cried once he had reached the treetop.
"I don't know! Where did they fall to?" I asked, panicking.
"Hey guuuuys!!"
We both whipped around to see Pinkie waving at us, smiling. She was the only one still above the ground, an she stood practically in the center of all the disappearing blocks. Everyone else must have fallen through...
"Wait for me!" She called and swiftly leaped from block to block, each one falling a second after she had jumped off of it.
Within seconds she was climbing the vines to the tree.
"Did you guys know I can parkour? Because I didn't!" she exclaimed once she stood on the treetop with Bash and I, who stared at her with out mouths open.
"Twilight calls me Parkour Pie!" she said with a smile, and sat down, looking at the ground below us.
All of the blocks had fallen away by now, leaving one giant eerie pit the shape of a perfect circle. Nothing but darkness could be seen below. When you looked inside the circle, you could see stone brick walls around it, so that meant the ground around it was safe to walk on, since there was something below it.
"Pretty sure the ground's safe to walk on. I think it was just the blocks over that pit thing," I told Bash and Pinkie, pointing to the black circle.
"Bash, go test the ground."
Bash jumped in surprise. "WHAT? Why me?" but I gave him a small push and he fell off the tree.
"AHH! JEROME, SERIOUSLY?!" He shrieked as he got up off the muddy grass. "Hey, I'm not falling!" He exclaimed happily as though the last ten seconds didn't happen.
"Don't get too close to the pit thingy!" Pinkie said as she climbed down the vines. I followed.
"Where do we go? We can't just jump in after them!" Bash exclaimed.
I shook my head hopelessly. "I have no idea..." Pinkie bounced excitedly. "I have an idea!" she exclaimed. "Why don't we just continue to go west like Edit said?"
I hesitated, how throughout the journey Mitch had been telling me about how he didn't trust Edit or something. I was honestly neutral on the situation. It was because of Edit's directions that everyone but the three of us had fallen in that pit thing, but he had proven himself helpful, like finding those diamonds for Twilight.
But now after what had happened, should we trust him?
"I guess so...where else could we go?" Bash said uncertainly.
The other three directions, I thought, but where would we actually be going?
I looked up and groaned to see the sky was turning dark. Pinkie and Bash looked up, too.
"Oh god! What do we do?" Bash asked. "Back to the tree!" I declared. We could follow the same procedure as last night; sleep in the trees, cut the vines so nothing could climb up.
I loved this procedure. ♡
Yeah, so basically we had left the tree for two seconds before having to climb back up again.
But it was okay, because we were in a tree.
But it wasn't okay, because our friends were all down that giant pit somewhere.
This sucks.
I sat staring out at the nighttime swamp for a while, trying to think of what to do, how we were going to get anywhere, until someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to see Pinkie and Bash giving me meaningful looks. Pinkie smiled and pointed down.
I looked down and could make out two figures walking past our tree through the leaves.
In the moonlight, I could make them out as a Creeper and an Enderman.
"This the pit?" The Enderman asked in its rough, strangely accented voice.
"Yess, captured them here," the Creeper hissed. I almost gasped in surprise, but held it in for fear of being heard. Someone had captured our friends?!
"Where is arena?" the Enderman asked.
"He ssaid to come here firsst," the Creeper explained.
I was so confused. What arena? Who's He? Although I had a pretty good idea of who He was...
"For what?"
"Ssome kind of directionss."
I exchanged glances with Pinkie and Bash. Directions! Just what we needed.
"Look!" the Enderman cried.
A small bat was flying out of the pit, carrying a large scroll in its claws. It fluttered shakily over to the Enderman and dropped the paper into his outstretched hands. The bat squeaked and fluttered back into the hole.
"What'ss it ssay?" the Creeper asked easily, standing on its toes to try and read the scroll in the Enderman's hands. We watched from the tree intently as he unraveled it an scanned it with his glowing purple eyes.
"It's a map!" he exclaimed. "To arena!"
The Creeper gave a sigh/hiss of relief. "Lead the way, then," he sighed, and the two of them turned and headed southwest.
Once they were out of earshot, I looked over to Bash and Pinkie. "We have to follow them!" I exclaimed. "There's some kind of arena that I think has to do with that pit!" Pinkie nodded excitedly. Bash glanced over to where the Creeper and Enderman were now small silhouettes in the dark swamp. "We can't get to close though..." he said concernedly.
"Yeah, we'll follow them from a distance," I assured him.
"Then let's go!!!" Pinkie declared and hopped off the tree. "Ow! I'm okay!"
