Twilight
"Welcome to the first annual Hero Games!" Herobrine exclaimed. Cheering and applause could be heard in the background, as if a large crowd were watching us somehow, yet no one besides the thirteen of us could be seen. Thirteen? Is someone missing?
Herobrine must have been able to watch us from somewhere nearby. And apparently, we had an audience.
I looked around at everyone I could see in this large circle. The Minecraftians all seemed to be fearful, so they must know what was happening, but the Equestrians looked as confused as I felt, so luckily I wasn't the only one confused out of my mind.
Because I hate being confused out of my mind!
My mind. Where did Edit go? He hadn't spoken to me since I fell down that pit in the swamp.
I really needed to get a clue, but I was interrupted as Herobrine began to talk again. "These lucky thirteen tributes are going to be competing in my first Hero Games! For those of you who don't know, the Hero Games is my parody of the popular Hunger Games or Survival Games. Everyone in the arena has to kill each other. Last tribute standing wins!" He sounded excited about this, I thought with disgust.
Wait, did he say we had to kill each other?
I looked, panicking, around the circle again and saw that everyone had determined looks on their faces. But they didn't look determined to kill. They looked determined to defy these rules.
Oh, good, so they weren't up for killing each other, either.
"What if we don't want to kill each other?" Jordan spoke up, looking around since we couldn't actually see Herobrine.
Herobrine chuckled. "Don't worry. If you don't want to murder, that's fine by me."
Did he just say what I thought he said?
"...Because the traitor will make sure you do, anyways."
Of course.
Traitor?!
Everyone looked around wildly at each other. What did he mean, traitor? Had someone betrayed us?!?!
"Oh, this will be fun, I assure you. For me. And without further ado, let's begin the traditional countdown! Once we finish, you can get off your platform to wherever you want! But before then, if you try to leave you'll instantly die."
I loved how he said these things so cheerfully.
He started counting down, and I could hear the crowd counting with him in the background.
"60...59...58...57...56..."
"What are we going to do?!" Fluttershy shrieked on the platform next to me. "D-don't worry," I assured her shakily. "Just stay calm. No one wants to kill you!" Fluttershy looked at me with wide eyes. "The t-traitor does." The traitor. I had forgotten about that. That was insane! No one would betray us like that...right? "Whoever the traitor is, we'll find out who it is soon enough," I tried to reassure her. "T-then what will we do with them?" I stayed silent, because I didn't know what we would do when we found out one of our best friends were betraying us.
"43...42...41...40...39..."
Maybe there is no traitor. Maybe Herobrine just wants to get under our skin...
"32...31...30...29...28..."
Why is this countdown taking so long? Seriously.
"23...22...21...20...19..."
