(A/N I wrote this whole chapter in one sitting like I usually do yesterday morning, saving it many times along the way and at the end of course, published it, then came back to find it was deleted for some reason. What. So I had to rewrite this whole chapter, sorry if it sounds kind of short and/or abridged, I kind of got writer's block after I realized I had to write it all over again. Blehg. So yeah enjoy the chapter.)
Twilight
I ran blindly through the shadowy forest. It was almost pitch black out, and I could barely see the trees in front of me. I had no idea where I was running, why I was running, what I was running from. All I knew was that I had to keep going.
Twilight... a familiar voice called.
Edit?! I asked, not stopping.
Twilight...here in...dream, he said, his voice getting randomly cut off and faint at times.
I stopped running, panting.
You're here! I thought the dome cut you off from us or something, I thought, relieved.
Don't...to show...traitor, was what I made out in Edit's faint voice. It must be something with the dome. A spirit-weakening enchant?
You know about the traitor? Do you know who it is? Is there even a traitor at all? I asked, excitedly.
...Dream...show you... Edit said. He kept mentioning a dream...I must be dreaming, and he was communicating by dream.
Suddenly, the black forest disappeared, and was replaced by a giant stone arena filled with mobs in seats above. I was standing on a platform closer to the bottom of the arena than any of the mob seats.
What was peculiar about the arena below was that it was a pool of still water, but an image of the cluster of chests where we had spawned in the games was being projected on the water. Must be an enchantment.
I watched curiously as images moved on the pool-screen, and thirteen people arose out of platforms around the chests.
The people were my friends and I.
The Hero Games was being watched by a crowd of mobs in a stadium!
I glanced quickly around all the mobs. Their eyes were all fixed on the pool as they cheered, but none seemed to notice me. I wasn't actually here, of course.
"Welcome," a voice boomed behind me, making me jump. I whipped around to see that none other than Herobrine was sitting on a small throne on the same platform I stood on.
"To the First Annual Hero Games!" he finished, his voice booming around the arena, probably by some spell.
I remembered when he had said that. This whole time, we were being watched by hundreds of mobs!
Glancing disbelievingly around the arena at the sea of undead monsters, I hesitated when I caught a flash of bright pink at the very top of the arena.
I did a double take.
Three figures in full iron armor were standing together. I could have sworn I had seen a flash of pink, but they were huddled in the shadows of the stone walls and I was unable to make them out.
It couldn't be... I trailed off in thought, but Edit spoke up, his voice suddenly clear inside my head.
This is a stadium located beneath the Hero Games arena, where Herobrine and some mobs from his undead army have come to watch you play, Edit explained.
Why are you showing me this? I asked.
You should know how big a deal the games actually are, Edit replied.
