Chips: dinner

"Kids, go put on some nice clothes" mom says. "Who's coming over?" I ask, inspecting my worn out muddy shirt and pants. "Aaron" she says. "Fine" I really didn't want Aaron here, it seemed like Emma, sparrow and harlie agreed with me. I was able to find a clean shirt, and pair of pants. By the time everyone was done getting ready mom had already covered the table with dishes of food. We were having tacos.

Aaron arrived shortly, and we all dished up. Emma was refusing to eat the tacos, since mom put eggplant in the bean mixture. She even refused to eat any of the toppings, because they were in the presence of the eggplant, and it was 'contaminated' at least she wasn't running away screaming.

Sparrow didn't want to try anything new, so she just picked the lettuce and tomato out of her taco.

"May I ask why you two aren't eating?" Aaron asks sparrow and Emma. Emma was eating an apple and secretly eating a pile of candy that was on her lap. "I'm eating something" they both say at the same time. "Sorry, i meant, why are you not eating the whole taco" he clarified. "It's contaminated" Emma says in a deep scary voice. "I only like the vegetables" sparrow says. Sparrow didn't want to try the beans because some of the spices in the mixture didn't grow in her realm.

"So, what school do you all go to?" He asks. "Sparrow, Emma, harlie, sky and Sam go to the high school, and Lucy goes to elementary" mom speaks for us.

Aaron talks with our parents for a while, then excuses himself to go to the bathroom.

"He's lying" harlie whispers to me. Harlie just recently learned she could read people's minds. "What is he doing?" I ask. "Going to talk to a guy named Jeff on the phone, that's all I know" harlie says. I secretly follow him.

He enters the bathroom and locks the door behind him. Is harlie just messing with me? "Hey, yes I'm at the house" he says, either talking to someone on the phone, or he's talking to himself.

"There were five more killings last night, this kid has to be stopped." "I've seen him coming in and out of this house repeatedly, I think he's friends with some of the kids"

I wish I could hear the person on the other line.

"Well, the kids could be in on his plan, but I doubt they even know" he laughs.

"No. I can hunt Charles by myself" he sounds a little annoyed. "I found a werewolf, you can have her, she seemed weak" he ends his phone call.

Charles is a vampire.

Charles is the one doing the killing.

Aaron opens the bathroom door, and I fall flat on my face, since I was leaning on the door. "You were listening in on my conversation" Aaron accuses me. "No I wasn't" I stated. "Your a wizard" He says, as if pointing out a fact. He digs into his pocket and pulls out a knife. I knew I could fight him, but right now might not be the best time. I quickly get up and run to the kitchen, I grab Emma and run out the door, and sparrow and harlie follow me. After we've run a couple blocks we stop to catch our breath. "Why did you drag us here?" Harlie says out of breath. "Charles is a vampire, and the one doing the murdering, Aaron knows I'm a witch, and he's out to kill Charles, and probably now me." I say trying to catch my breath.
