Chapter 17: Hooking Up/The Game

A paper bag was shoved over her head and she got dragged out of the bed. Jasmine screamed at the top of her voice and desperately waved all her limbs everywhere, trying to fight whoever captured her. She felt herself being thrown into the backseat of a car. Her breathing was hard.

The bag was pulled off her head. The white man in black rubbed her thigh and ran his tongue up the side of her face. He sneered at her, "You're mine now."

"AHHH!"

Jasmine shot up in bed with beads of sweat running down her face. Her chest heaved up and down as she breathed what she was afraid would be her last breaths. Huey was saying something to her, but she didn't hear him. He's going to kill me, he'll find me and kill me. All for something I wasn't involved in, just to threaten my father!

"Jasmine!"

"Huh, wha..." Jasmine turned to him, hearing him for the first time. The only thing she could make out in the dark was the shape of his face and his big brown eyes. "I had..." She swallowed. "...a nightmare. Oh, Huey, it was awful..."

He placed a hand on her shoulder, not sure what else to do. Huey hadn't had as much contact with people as he did since he was a teenager. Most of it involved lacking the potential to comfort someone physically.

Tears brimmed in her emerald eyes. Jasmine hugged her knees to her chest and cried, and cried. "Y'know..." she mumbled into her kneecaps, "Sometimes I wish that it was done already..."

Huey shook his head. "No, you don't."

"Yes, I do. It would also save you and Rocco so much trouble..." She scoffed. Jasmine sniffed and wiped her eyes with the back of the hand. "It doesn't matter anyway."

"Jasmine, don't talk like that."

Jasmine was silenced at the sterness of his voice that made her shrink.

"Its really depressing..." Huey sighed and removed his hand. He leaned down onto his large pillow with another sigh, rubbing his forehead. "I shouldn't have kidnapped you, its all my fault...I'm so sorry, Jasmine."

"Hey, if you hadn't? I'd probably be dead already, wouldn't I?"

"You don't have to try and make me feel better."

Jasmine was quiet for a while. She curled her legs under her and looked down at him. All that was heard eas the distant sound of a ticking clock downstairs, and the crickets outside. "There...there is one good thing that came out of this."

Huey snorted. "Oh yeah? What's that?"

"...I got to see you again, Huey."

Huey moved only one hand away from his eyes and looked up at her, only to find her already looking at him. Jasmine giggled, "Y'know, I had this, teeny weeny crush on you when we we're younger..." She emphasised with her fingers.

Huey chuckled. "Oh I don't think it was so teeny weeny, Jasmine. Everyone knew. Except me."

Jasmine laughed. "Except you?"

"Caesar had to tell me."

Jasmine laughed harder. "Just like you, Huey. Not even emotional enough to see the obvious."

"I can be emotional."

"Can you...be emotional right now?"

Huey rose an eyebrow as Jasmine leaned down with her lips pouted. His plan was to lean back, but instead he did the opposite. Huey balanced himself on his elbows and their lips met halfway.
