Eh. Okay nvm.
~•~Chapter 32: No Secrets, You Say?
~•~
The next morning, Jazmine found herself at sat in the last restaurant she entered before her world was flipped upside down. Everything felt the same, but she knew it all really wasn’t. This time, three bodyguards were watching her, sat at different tables nearby and dressed like civilians.
Ethan sat across her, speaking a smile a minute like he always did. Jasmine barely heard a word. She glanced down at her screen which still had her chat with Huey open.
08:03 p.m
Jasmine: I thought u were coming home tonight. Are you still at Riley’s?
08:30
Jasmine: Huey, where r u??09:21
Jasmine: Cindy says u left! Huey where tf are you?? Answer my calls!“It’s crazy,” Ethan was saying, and Jasmine looked up at him, suddenly remembering his existence. “I’ve even gotten calls from Forbes and Vogue about you. You haven’t had one interview since you came back and they all want a piece of you! Most themes they want to create involve survival – your survival. I’ve scheduled— what’s wrong?”
Jasmine was staring at him. “Since I returned, you’ve never once really asked me ‘How are you.’ Do you realize that?”
Ethan blinked, taken back.
“Instead, you brought me out here in the public, bombarding me with all these offers from the media that want to know everything of what could’ve been my worst experience. Of how I could’ve died.”
“Jasmine—”
“You’re fired.”
Ethan’s jaw dropped. For once he was speechless – Jasmine enjoyed the silence. He stuttered. “You can’t fire me! I’m the best—”
“I may be famous,” Jasmine interrupted coolly, “but I’m human, too, Ethan. Not your walking money making scheme. I’ll pay the bill at the desk.” Jasmine stood up, and all three of her bodyguards stood at the same time after her.
Ethan and every other eye around her watched, mesmerized as she stomped out in her clacking heels. For someone who had been kidnapped and witnessed deaths – she sure still had it.
.Wolf and Ramsey sat vigilantly in Wolf’s dark sedan, two blocks down from Jasmine’s mansion and blending in with the other cars parked parallel.
“So how are we gonna do this?” Ramsey asked before sipping his coffee and placing it in the cup holder again. “Do we just waltz in and go ‘Hi! We’re detectives that have been trying to find you since your kidnap! Any tips on how to catch the guy that got you?’”
“Yep.”
“Yep what?”
“That’s exactly how we’re going to play it.”
Ramsey faked a laugh. “You’re joking.”
“I don’t think after what she’s been through that lies will help us much. Do you?” Wolf raised a smart eyebrow.
Ramsey rolled his eyes and picked up his coffee again. “What’d you do with the hooker?”
“She has a name.”
“Right. Kandy. Where is she?”
Wolf thought back to earlier that morning. “You can’t stay here with me,” he was saying to her earlier that morning as he pulled on his coat. Kandy was sat on the couch with her head down, freshly bathed in his borrowed shirt and basketball shorts. It looked better on her. “Can’t I call someone? Your parents?”
