Chapter 28: Setting It Straight / Feelings? / War

It felt like years since the kidnapped happened - it was days.
No one outside the home knew that Jasmine was home.
Nor Huey.
Jasmine wanted to leave, go see her parents most of all, assure them that she was alright. Take down the missing person posters, assure the media and get them off her case. But what would happen if the Shadow knew?
She started to miss Selena. I feel awful. It's my fault her father died. My fault her mother got taken. All because of me. Jasmine hugged herself and let out a huff. Gosh. What about Jackson?
She stood in the centre of Riley's art room. It was her temporary happy place. The artworks indeed soothed her subconsciously. She started to pace as well as she mentally recalled the night she returned.
"You think you're PREGNANT?" Cindy hissed.
"Shush!" Jasmine looked around and closed the door. They were in one of the guestrooms. Jasmine ran a hand through her hair. "We did sleep together, and he didn't use a condom, we were in the heat of the moment okay?"
Cindy scowled.
"And I was on the pill while I was with Jackson, I have no idea whether it wore off or not. I just..." She sighed. "I just want to be sure, okay? I don't actually think I am. So...chill."
Cindy pursed her lips and put a hand on her hip. "Mhm." She stood there for a moment sizing her up, and then she sighed. "Stay here." Cindy left the room to retrieve the test.
Jasmine was pacing faster. She bit her nail and glanced down at her belly. The test was a negative. But a gut feeling told her otherwise.
"It's all in your head...just...just relax...take a deep breath," she told herself quietly.

Riley scored his fifth shot and Caesar groaned in response. Riley laughed. Both in basketball shorts and shirts, the men heaved for breath. "Ha!...Nigga. I win!" Riley bragged and went for the ball.
Caesar only closed his eyes tiredly and glanced at Huey. He leaned on the wall next to the entrance of the home court, dressed in a borrowed pair of jeans and a v-neck. His arms were crossed as he watched the game, almost analysing it. He rarely blinked.
"Huey!"
Huey's eyes darted to Caesar.
"Ready to play?"
"I don't play basketball."
Riley spoke up. "Cause you suck!"
"No. I'm just not interested."
"Cause yo ass suck!"
Huey only glared at him.
Caesar and Riley's phone rang at the same time and they frowned. Huey glanced down at them on the bench next to him. He read Oscar on Riley's phone and Ethan on Caesar's. "Oscar and Ethan," he said out loud.
