Chapter 2: Where Are They Now, Part 1
"...they mentioned wanting shoots of you on the beach for their next magazine cover. Now, I understand you've just returned from your tour, but..."
Jasmine automatically blocked her out. They sat down in their usual spot in the popular café. Jasmine loved that place. She'd watch people rush up and down the street and think that used to be me. Look at me now.
She was gorgeous. Jasmine had a natural curvaceous figure that easily made a man go insane. Her eyes were a unique emerald green that reminded people around her of the nature they were hardly around and her skin was the complexion of light caramel. As a child, her hair was frizzy, but she learnt to maintain it. Most of the time her curly hair was tied high or low, in an orange colour. Her natural scent was sweet, sweet strawberry, and it matched her personality.
She had a sweet aloofness about her.
"Hello? Are you even listening to me anymore?"
"Hm?" Jasmine looked away from the window and at her agent again. Ethan sighed and gave her an exasperated look that she responded to with a shy smile. The man was handsome and black, his hair was always styled neatly in a fade and the men always wore the fanciest pinstriped suits. "Sorry. You talk a mile a minute you know."
"Do you even know what I was talking about, DuBios?"
"Oh yes. The shoots Vogue wants for me." She runs a hand down her face. "Where is it?"
"In Rio."
"I haven't been there in a while, its beautiful."
"Perfect. You're leaving in a week."
Jasmine sighed. "Ethan, I've just returned--"
"Jasmine, I know, and I'm sorry. But you're a model, these people can't get enough of you, we won't stop until you're as big as Adriana Lima."
"Isn't it enough that I'm as big as Kate Upton?"
"Nope. We want you bigger. Its my responsibility to get you to the top, and I'll make sure of that."
Jasmine sighed and rubbed her eyes. "Fine."
"Don't worry, you'll be spectacular." He looks at his watch. "Gotta go. Take care of yourself, I've booked you a plane ticket for Friday, be on time please this time."
Jasmine smiled weakly at Ethan as he stood up. He dropped a few bills on the counter for the check and left with everyone else.
Feeling relaxed again, Jasmine leans back on the cushion. She plays with the ring on her finger, the diamond was huge. Jackson was huge. He worked at the agency way before Jasmine did, and he was still as handsome as the day they met at shoot. The man's eyes matched hers, and he had dark hair that was always in a messy, hot, boyish manner. He only proposed two months ago, and planning the wedding wasn't going as smoothly as she hoped. He made most, no, all the decisions.
He would say, 'I want everyone there, especially the press. They'll get my good side."
She'd say, 'I only want my close family and friends.'
He'd say, 'Let's have it in Vegas! Or even better, how about the staple centre?'
She'd say, 'Can't we just have a garden wedding?'
It was like they were speaking two different languages. But they made it work, they tried.
It was going well so far too. It wasn't hard meeting someone eye to eye if you saw it from their perspective.

"I must say that its an honour to meet the man who has the whole world wired to his ass."
Everyone laughed. Even the president smiled at the man on the stage with rogue charm. He was the funniest man in the world, currently, and the most well known. Everyone knew Michael Caesar, the comedian. He started out in small time bars and hotels, it wasn't slow until he was approached by an agent.
"I saw you on stage, you were terrific," the man had said, "How would you like--"
"No thanks. I'm a one man act." Caesar smirked. He said that on purpose. One by one, Michael Caesar turned down every known agent who wanted to represent him, on purpose. He did that because he knew that they'd all want him more, seeing him as stubborn, or hard to get. A prize to be won.
He loved it. The crowds, the laughter the audience sent back to him, and the critics begging for him. He knew though that he'd flourish with an agent. But it was hard to trust people nowadays.
It was until Jasmine introduced him to Ethan Blake. "He's amazing," Jasmine had said, "I know you prefer to work alone, but think about--"
"I'll take him."
Jasmine was his childhood friend. He loved her, and it was platonic of course. If the girl trusted this guy, he could too.
He was happy for a while, with his closest friends and family, but their was always something dark hiding behind his joking smirk or poker face. Something dark he couldn't resolve, not without answers
8 years ago...
Caesar went to school that day, and it was like any other day. It was until Riley turned up without his brother by his side, that was very rare. "Where Huey at?" He had asked.
Riley ignored him the whole day, he ignored anyone and everyone, and that's when Caesar knew.
He asked himself everyday. What ever happened to Huey Freeman?
