Chapter 18: Let's Focus On The Gangsters

Last night...

The door to the back of the limo was opened by the chauffer and Riley was blinded with flashes. He cursed and literally began to close to door, but stopped halfway when Cindy glared at him. He stepped out, rolling his eyes.

Riley looked handsome in the black tux he wore that hugged every inch of his lean, muscular body. His cornrows, old, still looked like they we're done the day before and there's was an angry fire burning in his brown eyes, eyes he shared with someone else. Cameras flashed as hr walked across the carpet, looking around. The place was decorated at it's best, they we're even some posters of him, posing in front of the camera and others where he was in the rain. It looked really cool.

Cindy walked out next, and if it we're possible, which it seemed to be, there we're more flashes. Cindy's strapless dress was the colour devil red and tight from her breast, down to her just her thighs where the rest of the material flowed around her heels in a halo. All her hair, wavy thanks to her makeup artist was pulled over her shoulder in a wavy, shining stream and her blue eyes popped as she smiled her red lips. She looked gorgeous.

"Cindy! Cindy, over here!"

It was Riley's night, but Cindy stood out the most. Being the only female basketball player and beautiful at the same time, she didn't fail to get attention that she didn't even care for.

"Can we get you two together!"

Riley snaked his arm around her slim waist and they posed for only a minute before continuing along the carpet where they we're greeted by some of their teammates.

They walked inside and Riley let out a sigh in relief that the flashes we're paused temporarily.

"Baby, you want a drink?" Cindy put a hand on his shoulder.

He grinned lazily. "Ain't that my line?"

Cindy just rolled her eyes. "I'll go get us a drink." She left him and walked the direction to the bar.

Riley was swarmed by a few people after she left amd he regretted not getting the drinks himself. He felt a tap on his shoulder and whirled around. "Oh great." May Gordon smiled at him. The woman was dressed in a dark pinstriped skirt with a white blouse and long heels. She had short, dark curly hair and wore thick rimmed glasses that made her brown eyes pop. There was a notepad in her hand.

May Gordon had the reputation of bamboozling celebrities and making good, critical stories about them. Sometimes she'd even anger them on purpose. She'd sneak into events like that and no one would know how.

She grinned at him, pushing her glasses up her nose with a finger. "Wonderful event, hm?"

"Mm."

"I've been meaning to ask you some ques--"

"Answer this first. How in the hell did you get in here?"

May shrugged. "Apparently some rich people feel nice when they're up to the task at times. Now, back to business?"

Riley sighed and shoved his hands into his front pockets. He couldn't shoo her and attract bad press.

She quickly scribbled something and looked up at him again. "You sure had a long break with your fiancée. You know. Away from the game. Any reasons?"

"I was tired."

"Does this have anything to do at all with the disappearance of Jasmine DuBois? You two we're friends, right?"

Riley froze. It was clear Gordon was ignoring whatever she saw in his expression because she went on. "How do you feel about everything that's been going on, Mr Freeman? Do you think Miss Du--"

"I swear, Gordon..." Riley shook his head slowly. "If you don't get the fuck outta my face right fucking now..." He clenched his fists in his pockets.

"You didn't let me fi--"

"Get the fuck outta my face, now."

May just sighed and scribbled something in her pad. She nodded at him. "Nice talking to you Mr Freeman." She walked away.

Riley stood there for a long moment. "Where the fuck is security around here?!"

The bartender placed the two glasses of martini in front of Cindy. She smiled in thanks and grabbed both with her hands. She turned around to get back to Riley when, "Miss Mcphearson!"

"You gotta be fucking kidding me. May Gordon? Just how the fuck did you get in here?"

The journalist chuckled. "So dejà vu is real."

"You better not have spoken to Riley."

"I'm from him actually." May frowned. "He wasn't very...co-operative."

"I don't fucking blame him." Cindy narrowed her eyes dangerously at her. May forced a smile, she had to be careful with the females. They could hit her without being arrested.

"Mind if I ask--"

"Bitch nah."

Her shoulders slumped. "No need for any vulgar language, Miss McPhearson."

"Bitch, my whole fucking language is vulgar. So I suggest you get the fuck away from me befo I fucking throw you outta here myself. Security should be fired if they ain't even able to keep yo skinny ass out."

May inhaled. "You can't answer at least one question?"

Cindy glared at her.

After a stare off that lasted for about a minute, Cindy calmly turned around, placed the glasses on the long table again, turned back, and sassily placed her fists on her hips. Impatience was written all over her face.

May Gordon turned a page. "Is it true that your quietness was caused by the disappearance of Jasmine DuBois? Do you think she's de-"

"Bitch imma switch on you real quick if you don't shut yo fucking mouth!" Cindy barked suddenly, making Gordon jump. "Get the fuck outta here!"

May scurried away quickly and disappeared into the crowd. Cindy rubbed her forehead. "I been lookin' fo yo ass." She looked up and saw Riley walk up to her. He frowned at her expression. "Gordon?"

Cindy nodded with a scowl. "Fucking Gordon."

"Ay, c'mon. We ain't gonna let her ruin tonight for us now." Riley threw his arm over her shoulder. "Where my drink?"

Cindy kicked off her heels first and pulled the top of her dress down to her stomach for cool air. She let her body crash face first in the centre of the master bed. "Mmmhrrrhh."

"What?!" Riley shouted from the bathroom.

Cindy picked her head up. "I hate these fucking heels. Y'know, I feel like I've just walked around the mansion like a thousand times..."

"How about a foot massage?"

Cindy turned over to her back and balanced herself with her elbows. Riley walked back into the room with his jacket off and his dress shirt half undone. Cindy grinned, "That would be nice."

Riley walked between her legs and leaned down to her face, wrapping his arms around her mid back, ready to pick her up. "Only if you give me that bath you promised me," he whispered with a smirk.

Cindy chuckled and wrapped her arms around his neck for support as he picked her up, letting her around lock her legs around him. "You a sick nigga."

"And yet you love me." He bounced her once.

Cindy shrugged playfully. "Can't help it. I've gotta soft spot for basketball players." Cindy made the first move and kissed him first, slipping her tongue into his mouth. Riley unconsciously, slowly dipped her back onto the bed without breaking away from her and crawled over her.
