Chapter 19: Sulky Comedians / Secret Work
Jasmine opened her eyes and blinked a couple of times, adjusting to the light streaming past the opened curtains. I must've fallen asleep again, she thought and slowly sat up. Huey was gone and his spot was cool, as if he left sooner. Jasmine leaned on the head board and felt herself blush as she thought of the events in the past evening. Then her eyes widened.
He didn't use a condom. But...that's okay, I was still on the pill...but, what if it wore off? She glanced at her flat stomach. Guess I'll just wait and see. Jasmine had started taking 'the pill' once the romance in her relationship with Jackson faded away. It was just in case they had make up sex, she still didn't want to get pregnant with his baby either way. The thought made her queasy.
There was a knock on the door and Jasmine almost jolted. That wasn't her room after all.
Without her answering, the door opened, revealing a smirking Selena. "I see you slept well."
"Urggghhh, leave me aloooone!" Jasmine laughed and shyly hid her face behind her hands. She felt the edge of the bed sink at Selena's weight, "You weren't quiet about it either."
Jasmine blinked, not wanting to believe her. "NO."
Selena nodded, laughing. "Yes."
"This is NOT funny! What if your parents heard me?!"
"Eh," she waved it off, "They're heavy sleepers, and even if they did hear it? They're big girls and boys now. They probably won't mention it...okay, Rocco might, but Ma? Nah." She stood up. "C'mon, get up! Breakfast is ready. Hope you like bacon and eggs." Selena smiled and left the room.
Jasmine hastily got out of bed and threw on a nightgown, slipping her feet into a pair of slippers. She tied her hair in an almost fuzzy ponytail and left after Selena. After walking down a long staircase, she headed for the kitchen where she found only Huey and two other men. The men conversated and ignored Jasmine as she walked up to his side. Huey's eyes were locked on the screen. She frowned. "Are you...fine?"
Huey looked down at her, noticing her for the first time. She could tell that he had already showered. He cleaned up nice. "Trump won."
"Oh, well...damn. I guess I saw it coming."
Huey rose an eyebrow.
"I think, personally that the reason Clinton didn't win was because, well, she's a woman, and two, the racists sided with Trump, and we have a lot of racists."
Huey grinned. "You were always as smart as me. You just lacked actually showing it."
"Geez, thanks, Huey."
Huey kissed her on the cheek and she blushed. "I was, er, actually looking for Selena?"
Huey nodded towards the door. "They're eating in the dining room."
"Thank you." Jasmine began to walk out. She looked over her shoulder and caught Huey still watching her. She waved shyly and Huey just made a small smirk.
Why am I so shy around him all of a sudden? She thought.

Caesar was back in New York. He was stood in his fancy penthouse with the main colours of white and black, looking out the window. He glanced over at the newspaper lying on his kitchen table made of granite. The sports section had a huge headline involving the banquet from the night before.
Jasmine wasn't on the front page anymore. She became a page seven. Caesar sighed, Its weird how people just forget. She's still gone, and to add insult to injury, she's old news? It was moments like that where he wanted to call his friends for a get together, but he couldn't.
