A minute later the doctor walked in. He was pretty young with black hair & green eyes. Nice looking.
"Hi Grace how are you today?"
All I could do was look at him for two reasons. One, he was pretty cute. Two, what kind of idiot asks someone in the hospital how they're doing? Obviously not great if Im here.
"I've had better days," I politely answered. Niall noticed my irritation and almost smiled.
"Looks like you've got a lot of support. You're very lucky." He said looking around the room.
"Only if Im gonna live."
He chuckled lightly. It kind of sounded fake.
"You will. You're lucky when it comes to your health as well. It could've been much worse. We want to keep you overnight just to make sure you're all right but you should be able to go home tomorrow."
My mother sighed of relief.
"Why is her head wrapped?" My mom asked pointing.
"There's a cut, which reminds me you'll need about 3 stitches there. It was pretty deep."
My heart sunk at the word stitches. I'd never had any before. Some people say it really hurts and others say it doesn't. Now I'd have to find out for myself.
"Do you remember anything yet?"
"No," I mumbled. I wish I did. It was frustrating.
"How are you feeling?"
"Just pretty sore."
"Are you hungry?"
Food was the last thing on my mind until he mentioned it. I hadn't eaten since lunch.
"We'll cover food," Haley answered for me, and I smiled a little.
"Ok well Im gonna let you try to relax with your friends and family & there are nurses everywhere if you need something. One of the nurses will help you get to a different room for the stitches."
"Thanks."
"No problem." He flashed another fake smile before leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
We all just sat there for a moment in silence. Niall was crammed in the corner. Haley was sitting on the bed & my mom and Mr. Horan were holding hands by the door, but all eyes were on me.
"The car's wrecked," I remembered.
"I don't care about the car. I care about you," my mom responded. "Tomorrow you can stay home & rest and if you're feeling well enough you can go to school Wednesday. We'll see, but I don't want you missing too much school."
"I can pick her up Wednesday," Niall immediately and excitedly offered.
"Or I can," Haley spoke. Niall turned to her and glared with such intensity that I looked away.
"Thank you," my mom said.
I was not letting Niall drive me. He was crazy for thinking I'd let him.
"She'll probably have to stay home for the week," Haley began explaining. "If she has to get stitches on her forehead she'll have to wear a head bandage and Im sure Grace wouldn't wanna wear that in school." She gave me a knowing laugh and my mom chuckled.
"Im going to the cafeteria downstairs. Do you want anything Grace?"
"Orange juice?"
"Sure. We'll be right back." My mother & Mr. Horan walked out and I was left with just my best friend and ex boyfriend/future step brother.
