Haley walked out the room after Niall even though I told her not to. But she didn't even follow him. I could see the outline of her body through the door. First she just slumped against the wall looking defeated. I wasn't sure why though. He stormed out on me, not her. After a minute of just standing there she pulled her phone out and called someone. I couldn't really see her face or hear her, but her hand motions let me know she was upset with whoever she was talking to, or didn't like what they were saying. Another minute passed and she walked inside looking like she was about to cry.

"What's wrong?" She just shook her head and shrugged. "Was it Ben?"

"No." She made her way to the bed and sat facing me. "Ben and I are fine. Great actually." She smiled a little but the look of loss still showed on her face.

My mother and Mr. Horan walked back into the room still holding hands but they weren't smiling.

"We just saw Niall leaving and he looked really mad. What's going on?"

How great. I thought about how angry he looked. The sudden rage and in shock in his eyes that glared at me before he made his dramatic exit. I wasn't sure if I should've felt guilty or not, I was just stunned.

"Him and Haley got in an argument over who would drive me to school," I lied. Haley shot me a look. I pretended not to see. "He got a little too worked up about it." Our parents nodded.

No one really spoke for awhile after that. I ate the slice of pizza my mom got for me with the orange juice I asked for. It wasn't a good combination and I couldn't figure out what made her think it was but i ate it anyways. Maybe half an hour later the nurses game to get me like the doctor said they would. It was pretty painful to walk even with the support of the nurses but I knew the soreness would fade by the morning. It should, anyways.

Haley went home after I got to the new room. It was only about 6:30 but her parents wanted her home. My mom and Mr.Horan were in the corner of the room talking, mumbling about something I couldn't hear. Normally I would've strained to hear but I wasn't in the mood. I constantly checked my phone hoping for a phone call or a text or anything from Niall but nothing came. I wasn't surprised.

What did come through though were several messages from classmates. Some of the messages were from people I never talked to. Haley couldn't keep her mouth shut. The accident wasn't a secret but I didn't think she'd tell people. Haley talks to everyone in school which is why she always knows what's going on. I quickly responded to each message saying thank you or briefly telling them what happened leaving out the details.

Because I didn't remember the details.

The cute doctor walked in and I was happy he'd be doing my stitches. If I were getting them from anyone at least it was him. I handed my phone to my mother and tried to get more comfortable in the chair before he started. He was messing with some things on the desk slipping on a pair of gloves and moving things around.

"How long will it take?" I asked shakily.

"Not long at all. I just need to give you this needle to numb the cut and then I'll start."

I nodded, but I felt like I couldn't breathe. He walked over and began gently unwrapping the bandage. I sat up to make it easier for him. My hair probably looked wrecked, but there was no way to get to a mirror. Not that my hair really mattered when I was about to get stiches. Once the bandage was off he threw it out, then sat next to me in a chair.

"Ready?" He asked.

"Not really" I spoke terrified. "Honestly...how bad does it hurt?"

"Just the needle hurts really. I've had stiches myself actually," he stated pointing to the part of his hand between his thumb and pointer finger. "I was at a baseball game and the ball came flying towards the crowd. I wanted it so I stood up to catch it. The ball split my hand because it was so hard & I wasn't smart enough to wear a baseball glove. I was in so much pain they had to wheel me out of there. I think I was 19 or 20." I giggled at the thought only because he was smiling. It probably wasn't that long ago. He was young. "On the bright side you have a good reason for your stitches. Lets get it over with."
