I went the rest of the day avoiding eye contact or any contact with Niall. Luckily he didn't bother me.
I knew that Liam knew I was listening in the hall. Niall hadn't sent him for me. Was Liam the good guy? Was he trying to tell me something? But then again...he called himself an ass. Maybe he was just trying to get back at Niall for something...but what?
As the day ended I was surprisingly excited to see Haley. I had forgiven her and hoped she could be there for me as friend. I spotted Niall in the parking lot as I left. He was smiling brightly as he talked to a girl I knew named Rachel. I never really liked her. For a second I thought he saw me, so I practically ran to my car.
"Hello?" I called Haley once I was in the car. Her voice was filled with surprise
"Hey...um." It was never this awkward. "I was hoping I could come over today."
"Oh." She chirped shocked. "I don't see why not."
"Cool. Im leaving school now so I'll be there soon. Ok?"
"I'll be here." I wasn't sure what else to say so I just hung up. The snow had cleared up but it was still covering the ground. I texted my mom where I'd be before driving over to Haley's.
*Niall's POV*
I faked a smile at Rachel before walking away. That bitch. She was so annoying. I knew she was just talking to me because Grace and I weren't exactly speaking.
Grace...
As if Rachel could really compare to her. I noticed the way she avoided me today. She wouldn't even look at me.
I wasn't gonna talk to her anyways. Not because I didn't want to, I did, but I wanted to give her space before I asked her out Saturday night. I spotted Grace from across the parking lot, and frowned as I watched her begin to speed walk towards her car. Typical. She was so dramatic, but it was one of those qualities I just accepted.
The ground was pretty icy. Once I reached my car I just sat there allowing it to warm up. I scanned the lot for Grace's car and realized she'd already left. Maybe I was stupid for always warming it up in the winter but it was something my dad had always told me to do, and always something I annoyingly warned Grace to do before it was even Winter.
My phone rang in my pocket and it was Haley.
"Hello?" I answered.
"It worked!" She squealed hurting my ear.
"What worked?"
"Grace is talking to me again. She's coming over right now."
"Well thats great for you, but she's not talking to me."
"What'd you do now?"
"I don't know. We were fine the other day but now she won't even look at me."
"Sucks to be you," she obnoxiously sung. I rolled my eyes.
"Is that all you had to tell me?"
"Yep! I'll let you know how everything goes later."
"Ok. Bye."
"Bye!"
There was really no where to go. Grace would be at Haley's house so I couldn't go there. I figured I'd just go home and sleep. If I weren't such an idiot I could be out eating with Grace, or up in her room kissing her even when she to told me to stop.
I missed her.
I drove, called my dad, found out he was with Grace's mom and headed straight to bed.
