Thalia's POV

It was windy outside, the brisk fall air turning colder with every day. I stared monotonously at my computer screen, debating whether my current biology essay was worth the sleep I was about to lose. My phone buzzed. Fletcher. I looked away from it, my nose tingling. I wasn't going to cry. Not over something like this, stupid. They were just words. They didn't really matter. Besides, he didn't know any better. He didn't know me. I didn't owe anything to him. Still, he was apologizing. That was something. But I couldn't bring myself to respond-yet. I turned back to my computer and indented the first paragraph, deciding to begin.
        --one day later--
I had gotten over fifty texts from Fletcher in the past two days, and despite my insecurity about the whole thing, he was seriously starting to annoy me. I felt it necessary to tell him off.

Thalia: can you not spam me

Fletchey: THALIA

Thalia: thanks

Fletchey: NO WAIT

Fletchey: don't leave

Fletchey: tell me off, lecture me, be mad, but don't ignore me. You've become one of my best friends and I'm sorry about what I said

Thalia: why couldn't you just let it go

Fletchey: I'm sorry

Notification: your contact 'Fletchey' has been changed to 'dickbag'

Dickbag: will you please just talk to me

Thalia: fine, but I'm done with that stupid game

Dickbag: fine by me

Thalia: how's the weather

Dickbag: don't do this

Thalia: what could we even talk about

Dickbag: what are you up to

Thalia: I'm just texting you

Dickbag: cool cool

Thalia: I'm assuming you want me to ask you how you're doing

Dickbag: someone needs a hug

Thalia: seriously fuck off

Dickbag: DONT SWEAR

Dickbag: you know what I say when I feel like swearing

Thalia: fudge?

Dickbag: no

Dickbag: I say nothing because DONT SWEAR

Thalia: have you ever seen the crucible

Dickbag: what?

Thalia: I'm assuming not

Thalia: anyway in there they use cool words like tarnation

Thalia: which I find hilarious

Thalia: but the rest of the play is quite terrifying

Fletcher: what's it about

Thalia: the Salem witch trials

Fletcher: what

Thalia: how do you not know what this is

Thalia: like 50 women were hanged after being accused of witchcraft, entire town falls apart, we don't actually know if Satan was present but he might have been possessing people, etc etc

Fletcher: what in tarnation

A/N
The last half of the chapter was literally all to promote the crucible which is a wonderful play haha

Also can anyone guess why Thalia doesn't want to talk about her dad 0.o
