Chapter 12
The next morning I tell Jai about my dream, well that wasn't a good idea.
"I am sorry I shouldn't have told you. It was a stupid dream anyway and it didn't mean anything." I say.
"It's okay. It's okay." He says.
"I have to go soon. I have a thing to get to." I say. It's not really what I would say when I tell my boy friend I am catching up with my old friends (my ex now almost my best friend, another guy friend and Ella.) from Sydney when I lived here for a year.
"May I ask?" He says.
"Just catching up with friends from when I lived in Sydney." I reply.
"Uh. Okay." He says.
"Do you want to come? I am sure Ella would love to meet you." I say.
"Sure." He nods.
Just before lunch we head to Nando's, Ella, Jacob, Jillian and my favourite place to hang out.
"Hey guys." I say as we spot my friends, I hug Ella and sit down.
"Jai this is Ella, Jacob and Jillian. Ella, Jacob Jillian this is Jai." I say pointing at all four people.
Jai and Jacob do a full stare down at each other. Did I tell him about Jacob and me? Geez I hope not!
"So anything exciting happen lately?" I ask the others as... (WHAT IS WITH MY FRIENDS AND STARING AT JAI? SERIOUSLY?) Ella stares at Jai.
"Amazing... uh... things." She says, obviously embarrassed most likely because she just called Jai amazing while being in a daze.
"Ella what?" Jillian says.
"Nothing, just nothing." She says and I giggle.
"What's so funny?" She asks me.
"Nothing. Geez. Ella are you okay? You look incredibly red in the face " I say and she turns a bright red. Of course she's not just red, she's blushing... oh I wonder why?
"So Jai. Your on The X Factor I hear." Jacob says.
"Yes." He says. I can see they are getting on his nerves.
"Celia where are you staying while your in Sydney? Because you can always stay with me." He says and winks at me. Jai......
"She's staying at my aunties house." Jai forces out.
"I think we should go, I will get your numbers and we can talk another time yeah?" I say and stand up. They all give me a piece of paper and we leave. We walk home instead of taking a cab.
"That Jacob guy is a jerk!" Jai says while kicking a piece of gravel.
"He's always been like that." I say.
"Yeah but he knew we were dating and he asked you if you wanted to sleep at his place. Just to make me angry." Oh Jai.
"Jai please don't be mad. He is always like flirty and stuff single or not." I say.
"He's still a jerk. No wonder he isn't over you, your amazing." Jai says.
"I don't like him." I say.
"I like someone else." I continue and walk into the park with Jai following behind me.
"Who's that?" He calls because I am like 100 meters in front of him and my hearing isn't the best.
"Who do think?" I say turning around and facing him.
"I don't know. One of your secrete friends." He jokes.
"Jai I'm serious." I say and he continues walking to me.
"Harry Styles." He jokes and chuckles, I can't help giggle a bit.
"Jai! I'm serious." I am serious! If I am in a happy mood, his jokes are hilarious but if I am being serious, I don't want to be joked with.
"Um, Henry." He says. Ugh! He knows who it is he is just afraid to say it, I can see it in his eyes.
"Who's that?" I ask with a confused face.
"My cousin." He says and walks past me.
"Nooooo! Jai." I say and run up to him.
"Me?" He says. Ugh! Finally.
"What do you think?" I say and he smiles.
"Where are we?" He says.
"Um. Well there is the Opera House." He points to a big white building thing, obviously The Sydney Opera House.
"Lets go." I say, I grab his hand and pull him over to walk with me to the steps of the SOH.
"What are we doing?" He says.
"Practicing." I say and we both walk up to the back stage doors. We walk through the back stage halls and no one except a cleaner is here.
"What are you two doing here?" He asks.
"I have a performance next week and I am just coming for a little mini rehearsal." I say, the cleaner nods and we continue walking to the room with a star and my last name on the door.
"This is me." I say and walk inside.
"What's the dance called?" Jai asks.
"Victoria-The Red Shoes. I am performing in the Prix De Fonte. It's French. Just like ballet." I say and Jai nods.
"I want your opinion even though you have never seen ballet. I don't care.". I say and put my pointe shoes on. I already have a dress on so I won't bother with the dress I am going to wear on the day. I warm up my pointe shoes with a few relevaes in 5th position.
We walk down to the door to the audience and I walk back to side stage. I have my connections with a couple of the music people on the main stage so I get him to put the music on.
I think about what Jai will think of this and almost miss my cue when I realise I have almost a full audience with about 50 people scattered everywhere but I just carry on with my dance.
Pull up. Long neck. Soft arms.
I think to myself as I dance. Being on stage is the best feeling in the world other than love. I finish and walk of stage sweating. I find Jai waiting for me side stage.
"Wow. That was amazing. It was really you." He says.
"Thanks." I say with a smile and take a sip from my drink.
"Before we met I auditioned for the regionals for Prix De Fonte and I came first so then I went and competed with the best dancers in the country. I also came first and then I am here now." I admit to him and he looks shocked.
"Wow. What do you get for winning the finals?" He asks.
"If i'm good enough a contract with the company or I can choose any academy in the world." I say and Jai turns white.
"Are you moving away?" He asks.
"I don't know. I could win. But I might not. But if I do- France." I say.
"I know you have always wanted to go to France but it's so... Far away." He says and hugs me really tight.
"I won't go then." I say and he stops hugging me.
"No. It's your dream go. Just like i'm chasing my dream." He says and hugs me again.
"Oh. I better get back to the contestants house and you should go home. bye." He says and walks away.
