Chapter 28
The sun hadn't come up fully. But we walked home anyway. We ate breakfast before Jai's mother woke up and when she finally did. she walked downstairs gave us a hug and then made a coffee.
"Mum. Can I go surfing?" Jai asks Alana.
"Sure. What time?" She asks.
"I don't know."
"You have school today." She says. Jai and I look at each other then run upstairs. Monday. Hooray. I have a shower and get changed into my Campbelltown Performing Arts High School uniform and then walk to the lounge room, where Alana is, while Jai has a shower.
"How was London?" She asks.
"Oh very boring." I say.
"I've always wanted to go to London. Maybe Jai will have a world tour and we will all go over and visit your parents. Are they moving back to Australia?" She asks.
"Well. I think so because one time my mother said that it's only for a little while. So I don't know." I say and she nods, agreeing. Jai walks down the stairs and we get our bags then walk out of the door.
"Goodbye." His mother yells and then Jai walks back inside and gives her a hug. He loved his mother. It was so cute. We walk along the road, chattering until we get to the gates. I never used to go to this school. I used to go to a different school out of town. A smaller school. A lot smaller school. We walk in and a lot of people start talking to us. Jai had a lot of friends. That was for sure.
Our first class was English and it sucked. The rest of the day sucked too. I made friends with some more girls from Little Miss. But I hung out with Jess most of the time. At the end of the day Jai and I walked home together.
"I think my mother is moving back to Australia soon. My brother is turning 18 soon so he won't need my parents." I say.
"Cool." He says.
