Chapter 15
After standing outside for about thirty minutes I decide to head side stage and just wait for Jai.
"Where are you? WHERE are you?" I quietly whisper to myself.
"He's in the bathroom." A voice comes from behind and I swish around.
"Oh Taylor You scared me." I say.
"Sorry." he chuckles.
"I saw your audition. You're really good." I say.
"Thanks. I just can't believe I am performing on that stage TONIGHT." He says.
"Yeah I know right. I am performing in The Sydney Opera House, main stage. Good luck." I say and Taylor's face just lights up.
"Wow! I'll have to come with Jai." He says. Okay maybe they do like me but they were glaring at me before.
"Don't tell Jai. But after the Prix De Fonte i'm going home.. to London. I can't come back." I say and the shocked expression on Taylor's face tells me it's not a good thing to not only Jai but him.
"You can't go. You make Jai happy." Taylor says and I smile.
"But my brother is at home alone because mum is in hospital and Dad is on a business trip. He hates being alone." I say and I can see easily that Taylor is thinking very hard.
"You brother is like 17? 16?" He says.
"Yeah something like that. Down below all his toughness he is a bit like a cat being chased by a dog." I say and we both laugh. Then Jai walks in.
"Hey I have been looking for you but I ran into Taylor on the way... well he ran into me." I say.
"Oh okay." He says.
"So what were you guys talking about?" Jai says.
"Uh-." Taylor says but I shake my head.
"Celia has something to tell you." He says and looks to Jai then back to me.
"Damn you Taylor! Damn you!" I curse.
"What is it?" Jai says a little confused.
"I can't tell you." I say and they frown at me.
"You can tell me anything." Jai pushes me to tell him. But I don't want to. If we can't see each other, we will most likely break up.
"I-I am-" I struggle to get the truth out.
"I-I am going to Nando's. Do you want to come?" I ask and Jai looks at me with a weird face, he doesn't believe me.
"The show is starting soon." Jai says.
"Oh right." Blonde! BLONDE!
"I will see you in the audience." He says and I nod then he walks away and Taylor glares at me.
"What? It's better than the truth." I say.
"Fine. Fine!" He says walking away with his hands in the air looking like he has surrendered to the police or something and I can't help but giggle.
By the time the audience is ready and quiet the show is almost ready to begin. I can't enjoy myself, Jai knows I am lying to him and it makes me feel guilty.
Jai's performance comes really quickly. Fix You by Coldplay. It's like one of my favourite songs. All the girls cheer in the crowd and I spot the two girls that were calling me ugly before and they just hiss at me in a way. Jai's singing is just so beautiful and through out the song he glanced at me every now and then. It was special. I clap and cheer for him and a lot of other people do too.
I hurry out of the crowd and run up to Jai.
"Hey that was amazing!" I say and he just looks at me.
"Thanks but I think you should tell me your secrete." He says and I quietly sigh.
"Sorry I lied before. I didn't want you to get distracted for your performance but uh-." I struggle once again.
"I-I am moving back to London and my parents said that I can't come back after that." I say and he hugs me incredibly tight.
"But what will the future be?" I say and he stops hugging me.
"I don't want to let you go." he says.
"I don't want to let you go either Jai." I say and a single tear rolls down my cheek. Damn I cry a lot but only for good reasons.
"I don't want to go but my mother is in hospital and my dad is on business trip and my Brother is an idiot so my parents say I have to live with him." I say and now ten thousand tears are now flowing down my cheeks.
"I didn't want to tell you until the day came so it wouldn't be so hard to let go." I say and hug him.
"I'm sorry." I say.
"But if it's easier I can go now and fly back in three weeks time." I continue.
"Shut up." He says and kisses me.
"What was that for?" I ask.
"It's the last time I will see you. But I do want you to know I will miss you and I will always love you." He says.
"Bye Jai." I say, we hug once more and I walk away. I walk back to Jai's aunties place to pack my stuff for London. It's the hardest thing I have ever done.
I walk down the stairs and I can't find anyone. They must be out or at Jai's performance. I decide to leave a note saying,
'Sorry Jane I can't stay any longer, I am catching a plane back to London tonight. I will miss you guys so much. Goodbye for now.'
I leave the note on the kitchen bench and catch a taxi to the airport. I call dad and tell him what happened, he was happy about it all, it wasn't about me coming home. But me and Jai choosing different paths, He never liked Jai anyway.
On the way home reality struck me right in the heart, I held back the tears until I got home but it was difficult. I walk straight up to my room without saying 'Hi' to my brother or anything.
I lay down on my bed and stay awake all night listening to some recordings me and Jai made of us singing together a couple of weeks ago, those were the days.
