Prologue

His legs pounded the ground and he ran faster than he had ever ran in his entire life.

They can’t hide us here forever. I won't hide anymore. The world needs to know we exist.

 He ran harder.

A boat sat at the edge of the shore, that called for him. He jumped into it and started the motor, accelerating to its maximum speed. He didn’t know where he was going, but he was going somewhere. He wouldn’t hide anymore.

A howl, off the shore rang in the man ears. The island and the howling slowly disappeard, leaving him alone, and free. But eventually they would come.

“There has to be something. Something has to be out there, it doesn't matter what it is. It’s something.” he said to himself.

He continued his long journey, and watched the sun rise. He smiled, feeling a victory-a victory he had never felt before.

  He was free.

He continued for sometime, until the gas in the motor was dry, like his throat.

I’m going to die out here. He thought.

Then, it seems as if the world heard his thoughts, and a small boat appears. “Hello!” he yelled, trying to speak.

In the small boat were two men. They had fishing gear, and wore strange outfits, not like what people on their island wore. The two men were pale, and looked at the man curiously.

They waved back and pulled their boat beside his. “Need help?”

“Yes, I was... fishing, and I got lost in the current. You saved me.” he said.

“Well come on aboard, we’ll help you out.”

 “Thanks,” he said.

I made it, he thought, feeling the warm sun on his skin.
