“Now, today, we learn how you enter, how you walk, and how you greet.” My mother said. I watched her small body pace back and forth as she spoke, making me smile.

“Since we are having your engagement party in our ballroom, you must enter accordingly, as everyone does. You, Euphoria, will be going last.”

“What? Alone?” Euphoria asked panicked, looking at me.

“Well your engagement has not been announced yet. You walk in on your own, and may greet people with Daniel.” Mother explained.

“I’m sure we can make an exception,” I assured.

“No!”

“Why not?” I asked, frustrated. I huffed.

“Stop acting like you’re six. You’re not engaged and this is tradition. No one knows you’re engaged yet, and this is also The welcome of Euphoria. She needs the spotlight on her.”

“Actually, the only attention I really got was in the ring, and that was because I was beating the crap out of people, so...they just want me to be pretty and not say much?” E asked.

“You are already beautiful, and no. They want someone who is courageous, kind and caring, polite, reserved, and thoughtful. You will do just fine.” Mother said smiling.

“Okay. We’re working on posture walking in. Daniel, you are first.”

I rolled my eyes and grabbed the thick book. I climbed up the stairs and turned to face them standing at the bottom, E watching me intently.

“Mom, this is a kid thing. Do I really have to do this?” I groaned.

“Yes Daniel, you do. Euphoria isn’t complaining. It is just a refresher, and Euphoria will know what to do.”

I sighed and put the book on my head. The doors into the ballroom lead to about fifteen step staircase, with a thick and dark royal blue carpet rug, the Pureblood color.

Banners and paintings were hung around the house. The paintings were of kings, queens, the children, even me all in our royal blue royal suits. And the best thing is, is that Euphoria looks great in blue. Much better in blue than in red, the Darkdog color.

“Daniel focus!” My mom cried, pulling me out of my trance. I turned too quickly to look at her and the book fell off my head. I put it back on my head and headed down the stairs.

“Slow down Daniel. It’s not like you’re in a hurry.” Mother complained.

“I am mother,” I growled out.

“And why are you in such a hurry?”

I finished the last few steps. “The sooner I am done, the sooner I am done talking to people, and the sooner I get to dance with my Princess.” I said. I took the book of my head and bent down to kiss her hand.

Her cheeks turned a sweet tint of pink and she smiled. “My turn.”

I gave her the book and she hurried up the steps, her white flowy skirt swayed slightly at her knees. She carefully put the book on her head and slowly descended down the steps.

“Chin up,” My mother commanded gently.

Euphoria brought her chin up ever so slightly as she softly glided down the steps. She looked perfect right then and there.

“Now, take the book off.”

Euphoria did as she was told, and handed the book to my mother.

“Now curtsey, slightly pulling the edges of your skirt and bow your head. It is a sign of respect. You respecting them, and so they know to respect you.”
