I paced back and forth in worry. Where could she have gone to? She doesn’t know her way around here yet. I hurried down the stairs where my mother and father looked at me in confusion.

“Was that Euphoria?” My mother asked.

“Yes, she...got upset.”

“Emotionally unstable, just like her mother.” Father said annoyed.

“She isn’t-” I began harshly. I closed my mouth and excused myself.

“Well she couldn’t have gotten too far, we’ll send guards out right-”

“Your majesties,” Timothy said. “A phone call.” he said.

“From who?” My mother asked.

“Sam. He has the princess at his house, to sleep tonight.”

“Oh, well tell him that we will go retrieve her immediately.” My mother replied.

“He said that she was safe and taken care of, and he would call in the morning.”

“Very well.” My mother said frowning. “Well, I am getting ready for bed. Goodnight.” She said kissing my cheek.

Father looked at me bitterly, and I looked at him with a mutual expression. My girlfriend was gone, my father was mad, and I couldn’t spend my first night here with her. Maybe we should have waited.

“Goodnight.” I said to my father turning on my heel.

“Son,” He called. I turned back.

“I’m glad you’re home...Goodnight.”

I nodded and slowly went upstairs to the room. I took off my robe and set on the sitting chair by the closet. I slowly got under the sheet and tried to relax. This was going to be a long night.

The warm sunlight poured through the window of the tiny room. I snuggled under the sheet, sighing contentedly I looked out and saw little children walking down the sidewalk with their parents, and the palm trees slightly covered the sidewalk. It was a cute little town, and there was really not many people here.

A small knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts, and I answered it with: “Come in,”

Daniel slowly entered with a bouquet of flowers. I could smell their light scent from across the room. He hesitantly walked over to me, and I didn’t stop him. HE sat on the bed next to me, and handed me the flowers. I gently pressed them to my face and inhaled.

“Thank you.” I said quietly.

“Im sorry...I should have been more understanding, I should have been there for you. I should have knew something was wrong. I thought you were just homesick-”

“I am.” I whispered.

“If you want, we can go back for awhile and move you into everything slowly-”

“No, there’s no point in doing that. I just need time.”

“I know you’re trying, and I’m here for anything you need.” He kissed me gently, holding me close. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

He had offered to take me back home. Home to people I knew. As much as I loved the new feeling the sun gave me, I missed the cold. I felt safe there, I knew there. Didn’t he miss all of his friends?

“Did you tell Jett?” I asked.

“No,” he murmured in my hair.

“You should, he is your best friend.”
