He opened the locker that said “LOCK BROKEN”, which had a huge hole in it, that led to a large tunnel with a mat at the bottom. Jett saluted and jumped, landing flat on the mat. I looked around, no one was in sight.

“Come on Zurie!” he called up. She jumped at the sound of his name with a squeal of excitement.

“Okay, I’m going to go first, and I’ll catch you. Make sure you shut the locker door.” I said, then gently kissed her. I jumped, landing flat on the mat, the wind escaping my lungs. I gasped, and had to lay there for a second to catch my breath.

“Are you okay?” I heard Anne’s sweet voice ask.

‘I’m fine, jump down, I’ll catch you.”

I saw her jump down, and as she fell into my arms they instantly locked around her. She was really light.

“You can put me down now,” she whispered.

“Sorry.” I said, setting her down on her feet. She wrapped an arm around me, and I put an arm around her shoulder lazily. We continued to walk down the path until we found the stairs, then exited quickly before anyone could spot us.

“How did you guys know about that?” Anne asked.

“We had like a huge lock down a couple of years ago, and they hid us all down there. Everyone knows about it. Half the kids leave during the school day, they’ve given up trying to stop us rascals.” Jett said grinning.

“Well, I didn’t know about it.”

“Well, now you do.”

“True.” She said.

“Hop in,” I said starting the truck.

“So we’re going to the Diner?” she asked.

“We were supposed to ask you and Zurie, but I think Jett ruled out the question.”

‘It’s okay. I like the Diner.”

The Diner was a small place where a lot of kids went after school and stuff to get together and talk. Usually older couples were in there for a lunch or late breakfast. It was quiet and old in the town. I liked the super old jukebox in there. Jack, the manager, said thats so old it doesn't really pay much music anymore. I like to look at it.

“So tell me about Darkdogs,” I said, trying to start a conversation.

“What do you want to know?” She asked.

I paused. “What’s it like when you change?”

“A lot like Purebloods. The first few times you can't control it, but as you get older it's easier to contain and control. You just think about changing and get all cold inside, like icy fire, and then bam, you’re changed. Nothing special.” She replied, looking out the window.

“Does your memory or anything change?”

“Not really, no. But you tend to lose focus or memory when you’re really angry.”

“Were you really angry last night?”

“I was upset, not angry.”

It took me a second to understand. Was there really a difference between the two? There must be.

“Well...that’s good.”

“It is; I haven’t gotten sent to the office yet today.”

I smiled. “That’s great!”

“Yeah.” She said smiling back.

We got there and I parked the truck. She opened the door and slid out. Danny and Zurie were already here, but didn’t seem to want to get out of the car.
