English was so boring. I felt it drag along, and I had so much on my mind. I just wanted to see Justin, to feel his warm body and strong gentle arms hold me close and sooth me into a deep relaxing sleep.

Finally class was almost over, and Zurie’s loud high pitched voice was chattering off to some Darkdog named Kasey. Most of the Darkdogs were complaining angrily about the new laws.

“...but yeah, he was totally like, I so didn’t cheat on you, but I mean come on, how like surprising is it? Jessica was like all over him-Oh hey Anne!”

“Hi.” I said.

“Wasn’t yesterday-”

“Yeah, I had fun. It was great. Justin’s been acting kind of funny, I was wondering if there’s anything I should know that maybe hes told you guys, and you know, what he likes, all that.” I had to admit, I was a little anxious talking with Zurie. She was so...out there, and never kept her mouth shut. I felt shy, and she was just so friendly and welcoming about...everything.

“Oh, he’s probably just having family problems again.”

“Family problems?”

“Yeah, he was adopted when he was like fourteen, and they put him here. His adopted parents are like super crazy rich. I don’t know anything about his older family. He never likes talking about them. He hasn’t even told Jett about it. Trust me, I asked.

“I see.” I said. He was adopted?

“Don’t tell him I told you, I don’t think he really cares for the family, even though they like give him everything.”

“I wont. Thanks Zurie.”

The rest of school went crazy slow too, and I was bothered all day about Justin and his family. I just couldn’t focus on anything but him. Finally the bell rang to dismiss school, and I hurried out, meeting him at his truck.

“Hey, how was school?” he asked, opening the door for me.

“It was fine, I replied, getting into his truck. He shut the door and got in himself.

“Good. Feeling any better?” He asked, taking my hand.

“Yes, thank you.”

We rode in silence for a few moments, then he broke the silence with his amazing voice that made me relax immediately. “So, I was wondering, if you would want to go to dinner with me and my family after you practice?”

“Um, sure. I’ll ask my dad.” I said smiling.

“Okay, I’ll pick you up around six.”

“Okay.”

“All right, good luck at practice,”

“Thank you, Bye.” I said giving him a quick kiss.

“Bye.” he said, giving me a tiny smile.

I got in and began to get ready for practice. Practice contained sixty jumping jacks, twenty push-ups, thirty crunches, and ten minutes of stretching, then I worked on endurance for half an hour. I took a sip of water and sat down upstairs. I looked at the clock. 5:00. I cursed and hurried upstairs.

“Anne? What’s the rush?”

“Justin is picking me up at six to go have dinner with his family.” I said. “Is that all right?”

He froze, and his jaw locked. But he didn’t seem angry. “That’s fine. You better hurry.”

I finished jogging up the stairs and got into the shower. I began to feel nerve start to brew in the bottom of my stomach. I got out and put on some clothes. I stared at my closet until I finally decided to wear a nice lavender top and a navy blue skirt with a yellow scarf. I wrapped my hair into a bun and curled my ends that fell out. I applied make up and put on black nylons with black strapped heels. I looked at myself in the mirror, and pleased, I smiled. I’ve never been out with a guy before. Or met a guys family. I hoped they liked me. I tried to perfect my stance and that, and noticed my fangs in my smile. I stopped. No smiling. I told myself. I practiced smiling without my teeth.
