After laying in bed and cuddling and staring at each other for about an hour, Daniel suddenly said: “Do you want a tour of the town?”
“I like laying here, with just you.” I mumbled sleepily, opening my eyes and kissing his nose.
“I know, but I mean, if Mother gave you the rest of the day to relax, then I want to show you around. And you’re looking a little low on that lovely perfume of yours.” he said with a smile.
I rolled my eyes. “Fine, let me fix my hair.” I rolled out of bed and went to my dresser and brushed my hair, then fixed my make-up that smeared slightly. Daniel came up from behind me a kissed me softly. I snuggled into his arms and he twirled my engagement ring happily.
“It’s beautiful and simple-”
“Just like you.” He cooed, holding me tight.
I smiled. “I love it.”
“I love you,”
“I love you too.”
As we walked through the castle, with the beautiful marble floors and wooden stairs with gorgeous rugs, I couldn’t help but feel hurt.
“Why didn’t…” I stopped myself.
“What love?” he asked, gently squeezing my hand.
“Why didn’t I have better living conditions…I mean, we didn’t live in a bad house, don’t get me wrong. But...I feel so uneducated, so…”
“I know. Maybe they just wanted you better hidden from us.”
“Or they didn’t want me. They wanted a son to be king.” I said sadly.
“Well...They haven’t had a child since, I believe she was having a hard time getting pregnant, and they got lucky and had you.” He said with a small smile.
I frowned. “Couldn’t they have come to see me? Or checked in with Dad? Would you have?”
“Of course E. You are always worth seeing. They missed out of a lot.”
“So the didn’t want to see me?”
“Don’t say that, I’m sure they just wanted to keep you safe.”
“But they weren’t worried? Or curious?”
“I’m sure they just wanted what was best for you, don’t let it bother you.”
I sighed. “Okay.”
“Lets go see the town?”
I smiled and nodded.
We were offered a ride, but we refused. I had grown more comfortable with the weather now, and Daniel made sure I always had a water with me. However we weren’t alone. We had two guards, Hans and Lee. They were really tall and wore crisp white dress shirts with pilot sunglasses. Daniel said they didn't wear suits because it was too hot. They were still intimidating and people didn’t mess with them. I didn’t like having them around all the time though. They were always outside our door, when we ate, when we left the castle. Daniel assured me that they were confidential and were just there for protection. But I never felt alone, and I know how to defend myself. I don't really care for people protecting me.
As we walked around, There was shrubbery, and nice houses built, tropical like. There was small little shops, and Daniel bought me more of my perfume along with the soap that matched it. We looked around and I convinced him to get a handmade vase to put into the room for flowers.
“...and these four streets here are where many people work for the castle and other werewolves who live throughout the town, even Darkdogs.” He said as we walked by.
