13. Piece of My Heart

JaciLake Wylie, NC Present

“AHHH!” I screamed when the cold water soaked my entire body, and almost drowned my face.

I began to wipe my face and opened my eyes, but the sun was too bright. I couldn’t make out the faces that stood over me. I tilted my head and used my hand to block the sun.

Of course, Jema and Jade in their freshly sun drenched skin and revealing bikinis stood over me laughing hysterically.

“You in a better mood princess?” Jema pushed my legs over so she could sit on the lounge chair with me.

Jade sat on the lounge chair beside me.

“Yea, I was fine till you just tried to drown me!” I sat up wiping the water from my face that had shocked me out of my dream world.

“What time is it? I’m starved!” I patted my face and arms with the edge of the towel I was lying on.

“Oh, It’s about five o’clock, sleeping beauty. We’ve had a great time on the boat all day! Wished you could have joined us, but you had to go and get all melodramatic on us.” Jade sang.

I leaned back in the lounge chair as the irritation of reality soaked its way back into my mind. “Yea, I know. I’m sorry. It’s just this whole Bobby thing is getting under my skin.”

“I thought you guys were getting along well. What happened between the two of you?” Jema asked concerned.

“Guess I should just get it off my chest.” I sighed with somewhat of relief to come clean and hopefully get it out of my head, but also the dread of having to give every little detail. A chill from the excess water that was dripping down my body gave me goose bumps. I grabbed the towel from behind me and wrapped up in it.

“So, you know about the first night?” I looked down with stage fright fiddling with the edge of the towel.

Both of them nodded when I glanced up towards them.

“Well, the next night, I met him back at his condo to go and see that movie he was in. I have always loved a good blood sucker!” I smiled a bit more light hearted.

“Anyway...” I went back into my melancholy mode.“We went to the house, or mansion, rather of one of the producers for the movie, Falcate. I’ve been in some interesting places, but this mansion was indescribable. Every inch of every room was decorated. Each room had a wild and unimaginable theme, like an ocean room where the whole room was aqua blue and accented with gem stone murals on the walls. A safari room, an Old English dining room, and even a disco. The guy was obviously loaded. He let us preview the rough draft version of the sequel.”

“Was it really good?” Jade asked without thinking.

Jema shot her the evil eye and then Jade’s excitement level crashed.

“Sorry, I was just wondering.” She rolled her eyes back at Jema.

“It was great, you guys will enjoy it.”

Jema was irritated with Jade’s side tracking of the story. “Continue please...”

“After the movie viewing I was feeling lazy and sleepy, but Bobby insisted that we go to this Blues club that was kind of underground. Not many of the press hung around this old place. So I agreed as long as we wouldn’t be surrounded by the photog- hounds.

“The club was cool. It had the vibe of the House of Blues, just more intimate. The smoky bar didn’t have many patrons when we first arrived, and no one seemed to even notice who we were, or if they did they didn’t seem to care. Although they all greeted Bobby and knew who he was since he seemed to be a regular customer, but treated him like a regular guy and not some Hollywood star.
