18. Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want
BobbyLos Angeles, CA Present
“Brilliant! Bobby, I wasn’t sure what you were planning, but you were absolutely brilliant!” Sonny strolled into the dressing room.
I nodded and smiled slightly as I gathered my things from the dressing room in a rush. Sonny truly did not understand the extent of my plan.
“So can you get me a ticket to North Carolina?”
Sonny began to laugh, “I know, that especially was like icing on the cake! Making it look like you are actually going out there! Did you steal this stuff from one of your movies, or what?”
I stood patiently as Sonny continued to laugh and type on his blackberry.
“Oh, and I just got a message from Jacinda’s manager. He’s not so excited about your promises, but I’m sure it will still be okay. Besides who is to say that you didn’t fly out to see Jacinda and she completely disregarded your apology. This is perfect. You did well, my boy!” He patted me on the back still typing on his blackberry.
I cleared my throat. “Um...Sonny, I am not sure you understand. I am going to see Jacinda, in North Carolina.”
He looked up from his blackberry. “You can’t be serious. Bobby there is no need to. Like I said, no one will know the difference.”
“I will... I will know the difference. So I am going to see her, and hopefully make this situation I have created better.” I sighed.
He nodded. “Okay, I can see this working for us as well. I can get some press at the airport when you arrive in Charlotte, and you could do some appearances with her, but this all will only take place if Jacinda accepts your apology.”
“I will never know if I do not show up, so I still need you to get that flight arranged.” I picked up my bag and headed out the door with Sonny only a few steps behind.
When I arrived back at my apartment, I grabbed a beer and walked out on to my balcony. It was calming to have some peace and quiet. I looked out over the city trying not to think too hard. I had a plane ticket, destination Charlotte, North Carolina. This was completely unlike me, and I still couldn’t completely understand why I was treating this situation differently than I had others.
There had been incidents in the past in which Sonny would have to bail me out of, but for some reason this was different, or was it? Maybe it was just in my nature to go towards the flashing lights. I could not yet tell, but I did feel like this was the right move to make.
I turned to look back into the piano room and leaned on the threshold taking another sip of the beer. I pictured the last time I had spent the night in this room, she was beautiful that night...
“So...what shall we sing next, Bobby Budeau?” Jaci sat with her legs crossed on top of my grand piano. She was wearing one of my buttoned down white shirts, and it was hanging off her left shoulder. In her hand was a bottle of red wine which stained her lips a little more every time she took a drink, making them that more inviting to want to taste.
“Come here, Miss Leigh.” I smirked as I stood from the stool, and leaned into her. She smiled back as I pulled her hips close to me. I took the bottle from her hand and drank from it still staring at her. Her eyes glowed in the candle light. I could tell she was uncertain of me. I pulled her even closer and she slipped down onto the keys which made a loud flat sound. Her face went flat too. I went in to kiss her slightly, to taste the wine. Softly I began, but then the rush took over as I pushed myself against her. Her legs wrapped around my waste and I lifted her off of the piano.
It was hard to control myself as I let my lips glide all over her neck and shoulders, and then back to her lips. I carried her to the side of the piano, this would be fine. I couldn’t make it to the bedroom. I laid her onto the fur rug and stayed on top of her still kissing her as she edged her nails into the back of my neck. I could take it no longer. I ripped her shirt open to expose the lace of her bra.
“Wait!” she breathed out heavily. I froze. This was not something I heard often or even ever.
“I...um...I can’t do this.” She said in between breaths and rose up resting on her elbows.
I was still in shock trying to gather my thoughts. I moved away from her resting on my knees and ran my hand through my hair trying not to look at her directly.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that I don’t do this...” She wrapped the torn shirt around her body as she sat up all the way. “It’s a rule I have.”
I looked at her with no expression. She was still gorgeous as she looked at me. Her hair was wildly out of place but in a good way. Her eyes still sparkling and intent on me, waiting for some type of response
“At all?” I raised my eyebrow.
She shrugged, “No, not at all. I mean, I will of course when I’m married, if that ever happens...”
“Uh” I chuckled. But she didn’t laugh “You are serious?”
“Yes,” She stood up looking over me.
I could not believe what I was hearing. I looked up at her in a confused way. “So...are you saying that you are a virgin?”
She giggled. “Uh, no...”
For some reason that relieved me, but I was still even more confused. “I cannot believe that I’m asking this, but is there something wrong with me?”
She bent down to her knees in front of me and smiled. “Believe me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, and if this was seven years ago...” She lifted her right hand to my cheek. “I should probably go now.”
She stood, but I grasped her wrist.
“Please, stay.” I stood up and pulled her closer. “I would still love to have your company, if it’s not against your rules. I promise I will be the perfect gentlemen.”
She pondered for a moment biting her lip. “Okay... I’ll stay.”
I smiled. It was odd. If this would have ever happened to me before or with any other girl I would probably have sent her on her way with cab fair, but for some reason Jacinda captivated me. I wanted to know her, or maybe this was because it was a challenge for me? All I knew was that I wanted her here.
We stayed up most of the night talking. I had laid blankets on the floor of the piano room. She liked it there with the candles and cool breeze from the balcony. Jaci seemed to honestly want to know about me. This was the first time I had had a conversation with a female in the past few years in which we didn’t once speak of my career.
I turned away from my recollection of that night, to face the view of the city again. I still was unsure of my own intentions towards Jaci. I took a long sip of beer finishing it completely, dug in my pockets for my smokes and lit one.
Jaci hated cigarette smoke.
I inhaled and exhaled deeply. I would have to be a nonsmoker for the next week or so. But why? Why would I change my habits for this girl? This was odd to me on every level. A part of me wanted to rip the ticket to Charlotte in shreds, but a bigger part of me was curious to know what Jaci thought of my performance on STARS?
I smirked.
I truly didn’t have to fly all the way across the country to find out. I knew that she was probably irate. I had only seen her mad once, and that was when I had made the unfortunate mistake of getting drunk with an old fling.
I will never forget the look on her face as I saw her stop and stare at me and the girl that was straddled on top of me that night at the club. Her face as I recalled it from memory was understood, as if she had expected me to do what I had done. Hell, I even expected me to do what I had done. I had fulfilled both of our expectations.
Flying out to Charlotte, that was something neither one of us would expect.
I took the last draw off the cigarette and distinguished it in the ashtray, officially now a nonsmoker. It is to be hoped that this would all be well worth it. I sighed and then turned back to my lonely condo to get ready for my voyage across the country to win over the heart of a rock star.
