25. Autographs & Apologies

So this is how it’s going to go...We all stood in a circle in the foyer of the big house while Eddie explained the agenda for what he called Mall Madness.

“We’ll be taking the Perrigo’s Suburban because of some booking problems with the limo company, and don’t give me any lip Jaci.”

He stopped directly in front of me while I casually rolled my eyes. Then he continued to pace in front of us as he spoke

“We’ll enter the mall through a back entrance. Security will meet us there and escort us to the main office where we’ll meet up with the mall manager. Then they’ll escort us to the center of the mall which is where we will be doing the appearance.” Eddie stopped in front of me once again.

“Jaci, we have to be extremely careful in these situations so please don’t be difficult.”

I glared back at him. Eddie started on Bobby who stood beside me. “You are making this situation worse by attending, but as long

as you follow the rules I have no problems, just know that my first priority is Jaci.

“As it should be.” Bobby nodded in agreement.

“Eddie...” I growled.

Eddie carried on towards Toby. “And you, you entered at your own risk, so good luck!”

Toby grinned amused by Eddie’s words of encouragement to everyone.

“Everybody got it?” He didn’t wait for a response before he continued. “Jema and Jade you girls can go shopping and we will have a special pass for you, so you can get around security. Cool?”

Normally I would have had a few words of encouragement of my own for Eddie, who had obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, but I decided to let it pass since I knew he was probably just nervous about all the upcoming events. Instead I nodded with the others and followed Eddie out to the garage.

When we pulled into the mall parking lot, the main entrance outside was crowded with fans of all ages.

Jade giggled as she pointed out the back window. “I guess they thought you guys were just going to walk right in the front door.”

Everything went smoothly as we took the back entrance like Eddie had advised. We made our way into the main office guided by a security guard. The manager met with us there.

“Hi, I’m Louise Scotts. It’s so nice to meet you, both!” She greeted Bobby and I with a very excited hand shake.

She was dressed very business-like in her pin striped blazer and matching skirt, a white blouse and her soft brown hair was pulled back into a French twist. She had black rimmed glasses that outlined her small brown eyes.

“Now, we do have a bigger crowd than we had expected. Safety is our main goal during these events. So you all must listen to our security guards at all times. People are still crowding into the mall so we cannot escort you down until we get the crowd under control. I have a lounge to the right of my office where you all can wait. Hopefully it won’t be longer than an hour or so.” She motioned to the door behind her.

“Thank you Ms. Scotts.” I nodded as I approached the small waiting area.

“Please, just call me Louise.” She smiled even bigger, if that were possible.

“I think Jade and I will head downstairs and check out the crowd. We’ll call you and let you know what it looks like.” Jema whispered in my ear as she hugged me.
