Chapter 28
I slammed the door shut, and sighed in relief when I noticed that mom had the heat on full blast. I peeled out of my jacket, and took off my shoes before I took another step into my home. I heard a series of giggles, and walked towards the living room.
Mom was sitting next to Josh, who looked slightly uncomfortable. Mom was holding a coffee cup, and was staring intensely at Josh, like she was a starving lion and he was a piece of steak. Do I have to remind you folks how creepy it is to have a mom, who has a boyfriend, stare at your boyfriend like he was the last man on earth? Well, it's extremely creepy.
"What are you guys doing?" Their eyes snapped to me, and Josh immediately let out a breath of relief. Mom smiled at me, and took a sip of her drink,
"Honey, I didn't know you would be here so soon. How did dress searching go?" I was instantly reminded that my feet felt like crap. I sighed, and sat down on the other sofa. I instantly took off my shoes and sighed in bliss.
"It was pretty stressful, took hours. But, I found the perfect dress." And, I did. After hours, of Penelope and Annie constantly dissing the dresses I showed them, we all found one we finally agreed on.I remember when Penelope got tears in her eyes. It was a very emotional moment. Poor Arnold, working his butt off to find the perfect dress. Josh should pay him extra, "What are you guys doing?" I repeated from earlier.
"Oh, I was just telling Josh here about how I gave birth to you." I choked on air, and Josh was immediately at my side. I started to cough and Josh quickly led me upstairs,
"Uh, we're gonna be upstairs, thanks for the story it was...very detailed, and I'm so happy you left nothing out." Josh said with a hint of sarcasm. I stifled a laugh as he led me to my room. When he shut the door, he instantly glared at me,
"Don't ever leave me with your mom again. Do you know how it feels to listen to your mom, who knows how to describe things perfectly, tell you how childbirth feels?" I shook my head no,
"Of course you don't. You were busy dress shopping while I had to suffer." I glared at him,
"I suffered too. My feet hurt, and I had to change dresses for hours, and hours and I feel stiff. I did all this, just so I could marry you, Mr. Castro, so don't you dare say I haven't suffered." I said glaring at him. He sighed, his icy blue eyes softened, and he pushed me down so that I was sitting on the bed.
Then he took of his shoes, and got in the bed, and sat behind me. Okay?
"Josh, what are you-" I instantly stopped talking when Josh started rubbing my back. I leaned back and sighed in bliss, as his hands worked their magic. I smiled,
"You never told me how awesome your back massages were." He chuckled,
"You never asked." I was gonna reply, but decided to let his magical hands continue their torture. I let out a moan, and immediately tensed up. That sound did not just come out of mouth.
Josh chuckled, "Calm down, and relax." I sighed, and followed his words, and relaxed. We sat in silence as he worked his magic. Suddenly, the door opened and I jerked up. Mom walked in with a smile on her face, like she didn't just interrupt us.
"Josh, you left your cookies downstairs. Here." She handed him a tray piled with cookies. I frowned, cookies from my mom were my thing. I rolled my eyes, and stood up,
"Where's Robbie?" I asked, noticing my brothers absence. Mom frowned slightly,
"He's out with friends." That was code for, he's at a party, drinking his butt off to forget about dad. I felt bad for my brother, and I wish I could've stopped him from going.
"Okay, I'm gonna take a shower." I said grabbing my pajamas and *lowers voice* panties. Josh smirked,
"Is that an invitation." I choked on air, this boy be crazy. Mom gave a nervous laugh,
"There will be none of that. Josh why don't you finish your cookies downstairs, with me. So, I can finish my story. I have many more to tell." She said as she led him out the room. He grabbed the tray and sighed,
"I can't wait." He said with sarcasm laced in, but I'm pretty sure my mom didn't hear it. She was already starting the story of the time when she first started baking cookies.
I rolled my eyes, and walked into my bathroom. I turned on the shower, and steam immediately filled the bathroom. I walked to the mirror, and stared. I noticed that I looked extremely exhausted, my green eyes a little dull. Well, it has been a long day.
After peeling off my clothes, I stepped inside the shower. I stood under the shower head and let the water soak my hair. I grabbed a bottle of shampoo and smeared some in my hands, and started to scrub my hair. After rinsing my hair and washing my body a bunch of times I turned the shower off.
I stepped out and grabbed a towel for my hair. After I wrapped it in the towel, I grabbed a towel, and stepped out of the bathroom. I dried off and put on my undies, before I put on my pajamas.
I stepped out and noticed Josh asleep on my bed. I chuckled and walked over and looked down at him. He looked so innocent. His dark hair was tousled, and his face was so relaxed. I smiled, and noticed his phone beside my bed on the bedside table.
I looked at Josh again, before I looked back at the phone. Curiosity was biting at me, but I couldn't be that type of girlfriend. I looked away and walked towards the door. Suddenly, Josh's phone rang. He jolted awake and grabbed it. He looked at the screen and his face became pale.
"I gotta go, Char." He said getting up. He quickly put on his shoes, and grabbed his keys and walked towards me.
"Who was that?" I asked, when Josh was standing in front of me. Instead of answering Josh pecked my lips,
"Nobody. I have to go now, Charlotte. Bye." He kissed me on the cheeks. And walked out of the room. I frowned, what's that boy hiding from me. I'll ask later. I shrugged and walked over to my bed. I laid down and sniffed the pillow that Josh's head was just laying on.
Gosh, I'm so creepy. I sighed, and closed my eyes. Allowing sleep to take over.
I was abruptly woken, when there was a crash downstairs. I groaned, and looked at my clock. Twelve in the morning, are we being robbed? I stood up, and stretched. I opened my room door, and looked down the halls.
When I noticed nothing out of the ordinary, I slowly walked downstairs. Voices were getting loud, and it sounded like Robbie was yelling at someone. When I reached the last step, I noticed mom standing in front of Robbie. They were facing someone. I couldn't see the person face.
"How dare you show your face around here? Leave now!" Robbie yelled, at the person mom was holding him back from. I stepped farther out, and the yelling stopped.
"Charlotte." Mom said turning around to look at me. Her eyes were pink and puffy, has she been crying. I walked over and hugged her, she hugged me back. Robbie was frowning,
"Go back upstairs, Charlotte." I glared at him, how dare he talk to me like that. I shook my head stubbornly,
"No, what's going on?" I questioned, letting mom go. I was gonna turn around to look at the intruder, when Robbie grabbed me, and hid my face in his chest. He started to walk away but I pushed him away.
I laughed, "Robbie, why are you so weird." He sighed and pointed towards the staircase,
"Charlotte, go upstairs." I frowned,
"Why?" I looked over Robbie's shoulder and instantly tensed up. I gasped, what's he doing here? I walked a little farther out, and knew I probably looked like I've just seen a ghost.
"Dad?"
