After the shower Jordan and I escaped the crowd of people and sneaked out of the house onto the streets. The sky was illuminated by a couple stars and the moon.
"How have you been?" I asked Jordan when we sat down on the bench by the pond.
"Okay. It's just that I've been needing to talk to someone. And you being in a coma didn't help any. I've barely slept these past few days, worrying about you," she explained.
"I'm sorry. You didn't have to worry about me," I said.
"Of course I did. You're my boyfriend, how could I not? You can't just love someone and walk away," she took my hand.
"I feel bad for leaving all of this for you to deal with," I apologized.
"Carl, please don't. Do not," she tightened her grip on my hand.
"I wont," I promised.
I placed my other hand on the top of hers and kissed her cheek.
"I'm just happy to be here with you," I forced a smile.
She stared at me for a second and smiled. Her worried look was washed away.
I moved my right arm and put it around her. I held her close and she rested her head on my shoulder.
"Let's forget," I said.
"Forget what?" She asked.
"Forget everything. The world, the drama, everyone. Just focus on you and I, just for now," I smiled.
"Okay..." she giggled.
"Let's begin," I deviously laughed.
I slid my hands down her back and kissed her neck. She got up and sat in my lap, since I wouldn't be able to get up very fast.
We made out for a little bit, but she was very conscious about touching my wrist. She avoided it.
"I love you," she said.
"I love you too," I replied.
"We should probably head back. It's pretty late," she groaned.
"I know, it's just I don't want to deal with all the people," I explained.
We got up and walked to the house and only got to the porch. The gates opened and the headlights beamed across the ground. They weren't supposed to come back this early. Jordan and I quickly walked to the group of trucks.
Daryl got out of a truck with a sad look on his face. I tensed up.
Everyone else got out of the trucks, trying not to look at me. I wondered why they all looked so sad. I knew something was wrong.
My eyes darted around, trying to find the problem. Then I realized.
"Where's Dad?" I asked. They wouldn't answer.
That's what was wrong.
My thoughts flooded my head once again and my heart pounded out of my chest.
"No..." I slunk to the ground and let go of my crutches. I began to cry.
I put my face in my hands so they wouldn't see me. This wasn't real.
"No!" I cried out.
The worst has happened. I knew this day would come and I had always feared it. I was just hoping it wouldn't. He was always there for me. My greatest fear had became realized.
My father had died.
Ron raced to my side and just stood there, no way of helping me. He had to stand there and watch me break down. He began crying, and so did Jordan.
