"Jordan?" I heard a deep voice call out. Three pounds on the door followed.

I quickly awoke, finding myself in the same place I had been when I fell asleep. I tensed up, unsure who it was.

"Jordan..." the voice said, growing more impatient. Three pounds on the door followed again. I shook Jordan awake, who stayed silent. The voice repeated itself and pounded on the door again.

"It's Joel," she whispered worriedly. I looked at her, unsure what to do.

"Get me a blanket then go answer the door, hurry," I whispered, and she got up quickly, handed me a blanket off the floor, and ran to the door. I covered my foot up with the blanket and stayed quiet.

"Hi," Jordan shakily greeted him. I could hear them, but the walls separated us.

"What took you so long?" Joel said, stepping inside and shutting the door.

"I was asleep," she answered.

"Next time, be quicker. Where were you yesterday? Why did you sleep in this house?" he quickly questioned. Then his questions got worse.

"I, uh, was out."

"Out where?"

"Outside the walls."

"Doing what?"

"Driving around."

"Why?"

"For fun."

"Were you alone?"

"No."

"Who was with you?"

"Two people."

"Which people?"

"Boys."

"Which boys?"

"Carl and Ron."

My heart started beating faster. She avoided the answers for as long as she could.

Before Joel could reply, she filled the air with words. "Carl's in here right now. Follow me," she said, and in seconds they were at the doorway. Joel crossed his arms at the sight of me.

"I told you to stay the hell away," he growled.

"I haven't done anything to her," I replied, calmly.

"Did she sleep with you? Right on this couch?" he said, impatient.

"She slept upstairs. I stayed down here," I lied, keeping cool.

"Why didn't she just sleep at the other house?" he questioned.

"She had to carry me here. You took my crutches," I said, trying not to be rude.

"You're exactly right. You know what I did with them?" he stared.

"No," I said.

"I burned them," he smirked.

"I need those to walk," I said, offended.

"Boo-hoo. Cry me a river. You know why I took them?" he cocked his head to the side.

"No," I repeated.

"So you can't get up and try to take Jordan away from me. Have fun with your crippled ass while I take her to my house," he smiled and took her arm. My eyes widened and her jaw dropped.

"Fuck you," I grimly replied.

"Excuse me?" he turned to me.

"I said it. Fuck you," I stared coldly at him.
