"Good morning, Mrs. Grimes," I whispered to Jordan, as she laid beside me on the blanket, as she had the whole night. I even slept the entire night, too. No walkers came around, but in case they did, I had my pistol in my hand, loaded, and ready to fire when needed. I knew it was dangerous to have it loaded, because in one click I could fire it, but since it was hard to sleep in any other position than on my back because of my legs, I was okay. I wouldn't move.
In a few seconds, her eyes opened and she smiled. I held her hand as she gave me a half-awake kiss.
"How'd you sleep?" I asked, tracing my thumb on the back of her hand.
"Great, did you get any?" she asked, stretching her arms, still holding hands with me.
"I actually did. Up for breakfast?" I asked, sitting myself up.
"Not really," she said, holding her head.
"Why? What's wrong?" I asked.
"I feel awful... like I'm about to puke," she said.
"Oh, uh, I don't really know how to help you, to be honest. But you got to eat," I said, digging through the bag of stuff they gave us.
"Guess so," she said.
"I found applesauce, there's something," I said, opening the jar. Jordan sat up and moved beside me. I dug my fingers into it and licked it off my hand, since we didn't have utensils. Jordan did the same, as it didn't faze her. We continued to eat until the jar was empty. She groaned and laid back down, hands on her stomach.
I curled up beside her and stared at the sky above.
"Can you believe it? We're married, and we already have a family started," I said, smiling. I placed my hand on her hands.
"I can't believe it either," she smiled.
"Have you noticed a difference... with like, your belly, or anything?" I said, trying not to make it awkward.
"A little. Not much at all, but it's so exciting," she said.
"I think maybe they're the reason why I don't feel good. Morning sickness," she continued, smirking.
"I can't say that you're right, because I have no clue," I smiled. She giggled and gave me a kiss.
"I love you" she said.
"Love you too," I said, getting up and moving into my wheelchair. Jordan packed the stuff up and put it in the back of it. We were off.
"So, I was thinking we try to find one of them big stores, like a Wal-Mart or something. You could get some clothes and I could look for other stuff," I said. Jordan nodded anxiously, and right as I was going to say something, she runs to the side of the road and throws up her breakfast. I quickly met her by her side and pat her back.
"You okay?" I asked. She nodded and continued walking, now pushing me. I wanted to tell her she didn't have to, but she insisted on it. I knew if I said no she would continue anyway.
It was an hour or so until we found a sign that said 'Sam's Club 1 Mile Ahead'. Jordan started pushing me faster, and in a while we were there.
"Go in, I can't," I said and handed her my pistol. She nodded, opened the door, came back later with some rounds left. I rolled in with her and looked around. A lot of stuff was gone but the some shelves were still fully stocked.
She went her own way and I went mine to the baby aisle. I found prenatal vitamins for Jordan and then saw some cans of food left. I put them on my lap then went out of the store.
