*Trigger Warning: Mention of scars/blood/wounds*
"I think I'm going to tell Ginny about us." Hermione didn't expect Draco to have such a harsh reaction but he did. He spilled his cup of tea, standing up so fast he startled her. Hermione thought he might shout at her or at the spilled tea but he just simply stared at her, grey eyes wide in shock.
"What?" He asked.
"I... I want to tell Ginny about us."
"Why?" Draco asked in a way that made Hermione frown.
"Why? Because she's one of my best friends and I want her to know. Pansy already knows." Hermione argued and Pansy was actually keeping the secret fairly well. At least, their love affair hadn't been in the monthly newsletter Hogwarts prints out for it's students.
"But I didn't tell Pansy. We just weren't careful enough." Hermione stood now too, frowning up a storm at him.
"Are you saying you don't want to tell people about us? That you just want to keep this relationship a secret forever?" Draco sighed.
"Hermione no I just... If you tell Ginny then she's going to tell Harry and I don't... I don't want him to think I did something to you to make you like me. I don't want him to hurt me because I..." Hermione watched him absently rub at his chest, where she knew jagged scars from Harry's sectum sempra curse laid on his skin. Just another mark that Draco would have forever. Hermione walked towards him and wrapped her arms around his waist. Draco sighed heavily, feeling his heart race in his chest as he hugged her back.
"I won't let him hurt you Draco and... You don't know how much that night actually haunts him." Draco scoffed. "It's true. Ginny told me he has nightmares about it sometimes among other horrible things but... Draco, you're the only person he's ever used a dark curse on and when he saw what it did, he vowed never to use another one like it." Hermione pulled back to look at him but his grey eyes were still stormy, eyebrows furrowed together as he scowled.
"That's supposed to make me feel better?" He asked. "Hermione, I was in recovery for nearly two weeks. Sometimes the scars split back open and I have to use that reversal spell Snape taught me to fix them again." Hermione stared at him in shock.
"What?" She whispered.
"Hermione, that curse means cut forever. Snape simply reversed the effects. He didn't remove the curse. I'm going to have to live with this pain forever."
"I didn't know that." Hermione whispered. "Why didn't you tell me before now?" Draco shook his head and stepped away from Hermione a little.
"I don't like thinking about it 'Mione. I can still feel myself bleeding out on that bathroom floor sometimes. Every time a cut opens back up, I feel like I'm dying." Hermione didn't know she was crying until Draco started to wipe away her tears. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you." Draco said softly, kissing her lightly before wrapping her in a hug.
"I'm so sorry Draco. I didn't know." She cried, burying her face into shoulder. Draco rubbed her back lightly.
"It's okay Hermione. It's okay." When Hermione stopped crying, he pulled back and kissed her forehead. "Hey, I'm okay Hermione." He said softly. "I'm going to be just fine." Hermione nodded, hiccuping as she wiped at her tears. Draco kissed her forehead again before pulling out his wand and cleaning up the mess he made behind them. "Novis." Draco said, waving his wand over the spilled tea and chipped teacup. Immediately, the chipped teacup pieced itself back together and the liquid slowly floated out of the carpet and the couch, reversing back into the cup and into Draco's hand. Draco tossed the tea into the fire and it sizzled loudly but wasn't put out. Draco set the teacup down as Hermione ran one hand through her hair, taking deep breaths. "Canticum." Draco said, casting the spell out into the room. Suddenly, that song Hermione had heard Draco humming nearly a week ago began to fill the room.
