Chapter 11

"Wooo! Go Nate!" I cheered as he dribbled the ball down the field and the crowd was going insane.

"Come on Nate..." Matt mumbled to himself.

"Go Nate!" Ben cheered and I smiled and I was on the edge of my seat.

He went for it and kicked the ball and swoosh it went into the net in the top right corner.

"Yess!" Everyone in the stands cheered for Nate and the team. The family and I screamed our heads off and Matt got up and cheered.

"That's my boy!" Matt yelled and celebrated with us.

"Nathan Parkston scores for the Jaguars and the Jags are off to the playoffs once again!" The announcer yelled and I smiled and Nate ran up to us in the stands.

He looked for me and hugged me and kissed me. I was so happy for him and I was so proud of him.

"I am so proud of you!" I said and hugged him.

"Nate!!" The family yelled and they hugged him as well.

"Parkston! Come on! Team picture!" One of his teammates yelled and I smiled and he ran off.

"Now this was one hell of a game! Woo!" Matt said and hugged Marcy.

"That's our son honey, I'm so proud of him." Marcy said and Matt kissed her forehead.

"It's official, you two are the cutest." I said as I took a picture of them and they smiled.

"Let's GO Jaguars, let's go!" The cheer started and everyone joined in.

I smiled to see how happy the team was and after the crowd started clearing out I headed down to the field.

"You did so great Nate!" Luna said playfully and hit his chest.

"Thanks Luna, there's my girl!" Nate said and jogged over to me.

"Do you need saving?" I whispered in his ear.

"Yes, please help." Nate whispered back and I smiled and let him go.

"You did great out there, I'm so proud of you." I said and kissed him.

"Oh, are you two a thing?" Luna asked us.

"Yeah, we're dating." I said as he held my hand.

"Oh okay, I'll see you around Nate." Luna said and winked at him then strutted off.

"Thank you so much, I needed that emergency help." Nathan said and I smiled and kissed him and he deepened the kiss.

"Your family is waiting for us." I said as I bit my lip.

"Don't bite your lip like that, you're killing me." Nate said and I giggled and started walking away.

"Coming?" I asked him and he snapped out of his daydreaming and grabbed his bag and ran over to me then wrapped his arm around me.

"You're amazing, did you know that?"

"I think that you should be saying that to yourself. Did you see yourself out there?" I asked him.

"Thanks babe, you're the best." Nate said and kissed my cheek as we headed up to the family.

"Nate!" Ben yelled and hugged his legs.

"Hey little man!" Nate said and picked him up.

"I'm so proud of you, honey." Marcy said and I smiled.

"Family picture!" Matt said and held up the camera.

"I'll take the picture for you all." I said and took the camera. I snapped a few and smiled at such a beautiful family.

"Okay, now time for a real family picture." Eric said and took the camera from me.

"You're part of this family just like everyone else." Luke said and I smiled.

"Yo, Ollie! Can you take a picture for us real quick?" Nate said and Ollie nodded then took the camera.

We all got into a group and Ollie snapped a few pictures and I'm so happy they think of me as family.

"I need one with Shelby." Nate said and I rolled my eyes.

"That's true! You two are too adorable not to take a picture of." Marcy said and took the camera.

"Hop on my back!" Nate said and I did as I was told.

In one picture we just smiled then I kissed his cheek and then one was that we kissed.

"Too cute!" Marcy said as she snapped the pictures.

"Let's go and eat, I'm starving!" Nate said and ran with me on his back.

"Nathaniel! You be careful with her!" Marcy yelled as he ran to the car as I laughed.

"Okay mom!" Nathan yelled.

"What are we going to do with those kids?" I heard Matt ask.

"Shelby! Someone's here for you!" Marcy yelled.

"Coming!" I yelled back and ran downstairs.

"Natalie!" I yelled and ran up to her and hugged her.

"Hi Shelby..." Natalie said and she looked tired, stressed, and upset.

"Nat, what's wrong?" I asked her.

"Shelby, mom and dad... got in a car accident." Natalie barely said it then broke down.

"What..." I said and my whole world went crashing down.

"Mom-" Natalie tried to say but then broke down and started sobbing and I hugged her.

"Mom what?" I asked as tears trickled down.

"Mom died immediately because of the impact." Natalie blurted then started crying again.

I dropped to the floor and started sobbing and Natalie hugged me on the floor and sobbed with me.

"What about... dad?" I said in between sobs.

"He's in a coma right now." Natalie said and we started crying even more.
Marcy stood there with her hands over her mouth and started bawling her eyes out too and hugged us both.

"It's going to be okay..." Marcy said.

Everything suddenly went black.

"Shelby?!" Natalie said and I woke up and I was in the hospital.

I looked at my arm to see me hooked up to all these machines.

"It's okay Shelb, you're at the hospital." Nate said and I nodded.

"What happened?" I asked as I touched my head.

"You fainted..." Natalie said and I looked over to see everyone here.

"How long was I out for?"

"About 9 hours..." Matt said and I nodded.

"Nat, is dad okay?" I asked.

"He... he passed away last night..." Nat said as tears streamed down her cheek.

"Natalie... you're lying." I said.

"I wish I was, I really wish I was." Natalie said and started sobbing and tears started steaming down my face.

"I'm so sorry..." Nate said and hugged me.

I've never had so much heart ache...
